Instead, we get to run around like a maniac looking for the exit fleeing monsters that for all intents and purposes cannot be killed. Yech!

I actually killed a few of them before I realized I was just wasting ammo and just started running around, but yeah, they definitely missed the chance to flesh out some back story there or even in the records room you were looking for.

just finished it up, luckily D6 wasn't that hard after I accidentally blew up a blob spawner and realized they could be taken out.  could have done without the quick time event lite moments at the end, and I youtubed the 'good' ending.  all in all it would have been a better game had they made it open like STALKER and not a straight up shooter.

yay, make it harder.  why not give you just a knife and a whole room full of baddies to get past too.  and keep the same checkpoint save system. 

brilliant.  this game screams for mod support to address all the quirks they added to the game.  glad i passed on this one from the get go, but sad that it was such a missed opportunity.

I've not read this whole thread so maybe it was explained in it..don't really care...but I bought the game in the store..I have the DVD disc..yet when I go to install it is installing through STEAM and is downloading it..WTF?? This will take a bit. I have the dvd..wth.

It starts Steam (assuming you already have the client installed) authenticates and then installs from the DVD. Not sure why you think it is actually downloading it, mine sure didn't. Afterwards it becomes yet another Steam game, no disk needed but it does want you to be connected to play.

I had the same issue Daehawk did when I went to install from a DVD, I found this link on Steam Support that fixed the issue and allowed me to install the game from the DVD.

I still have not finished the game. I stepped away and haven't gotten back to it. Don't think I will for a while yet with Red Dead being so fun.

I'm in need of a ammo cheat! I'm in D6 and have ZERO ammo for my guns. I can find a lot of 5.75 ammo down there but i don't have a gun for it. I'm stuck with a knife and trying to get Miller alive through all those damn amebas with a knife is not possible. All I need is some ammo. i don't need god mode or anything. I dont see having some ammo as a cheat. The game is very selfish with ammo it seems.

I finished it will little to no ammo. Had to reload a bunch though. Lucky i was near the end I guess. Now I can play the latest Stalker.

Sorry don't know of an ammo cheat. You are in the worst section of the game. Probably have to reload an old save. There is some ammo in a cabinet before you first encounter the blobs. Have you found that?

Sigh. I got it, but I should've done my homework and seen how many problems people were having getting the game to run at all due to the pesky NVIDIA PhysX loader (regardless of whether you have an NVIDIA card or not):

AH! A workaround at the Steam forum (adding some command line stuff to the game's launch options in Steam) seems to have fixed it for me:

Had problems with metro failing to launch from steam,install dir,desktop icon and dvd, repeatedly tried to get the game running even though i had already played it it still refused to launch, no error messages just nothing at all, put in these launch options , -autoconfig -windowed , in steam and not had a problem since, found that the game/steam ahd changed my graphics settings to above what i had set them too

*I found that after I put the command line stuff in, I needed to exit and restart Steam before the game then worked OK.

And thanks to CeeKay for chipping in on Steam IM with some "tech support."

I'm obviously late to the party, but here's some screenies. I love the level of detail, though I'm having some frame rate issues during some of the combat stuff. The character model detail level reminds me a bit of Batman Arkham Asylum (and I had frame rate issues there too).




As almost lifelike as the character models are, they're still missing a certain glint of life in their eyes. Maybe some day they'll take that next step...

Been playing this game a bit, and loving it! My game looks like yours as well, BJ (Yay new machine), and its reallly, really beautifull...

I dont get all the critizism of the game, I'm loving it so far, and finding it quite spooky as well in many places. It is very much on rails though, but I guess thats what you get for wanting to tell a tightly-knit story.

I actually thought it was some sort of stalker sequel, but I see it isnt. Anyways, great, fun game.!

Cripes, I can't find any freaking ammo in the game to begin with. The last thing I want is MORE reduction in ammo.

I'd say yes, if only to experience the games atmosphere.

I revisited this recently and am still unable to get a playable frame rate for the most part. I wouldn't call it the most efficient game engine I ever played. So I'd just be aware of that if you have a "OK" system as opposed to a hot rod.

just wait and see what the sequel will do to your PC    it's crazy seeing this game in benchmarks and what it does to good systems.
