This one came under the radar, Surprisingly good after I played the demo that came with OXM, it kind like GTA, i.e. you can hijack plane (heli), cars and tanks, etc. Plus you get to destroy as you see fit, total freedom on how to approach the mission objective. Overall, thumbs up for this one. Oh, did I mention carpet bomb is awsome!!!
P.S. when demo start, turn 180 degree, and go find some goodies...

Agreed. I was glad to see someone posted about this. It was pretty "open ended". By the way, did you notice at the end of the demo it said available, "Winter 2005"???!!! Uhhhhhhhhh,,,,,,, we're kinda getting the hype machine going a bit early? The one thing I didn't like is that your guy could take a LOT of bullets before he dies. Mind you, Ghost Recon 2 kinda quick deaths wouldn't be fun, but your character can take a whole clip before he's dead. ;-) Kinda unrealistic and almost smacked of being arcade-ish. I'm not sure if that was a big enough turn off to not purchase the game. It should come out on Jan. 10, 2005, and Jan. is in winter... The one thing I didn't like is that your guy could take a LOT of bullets before he dies. I'm not sure if that was a big enough turn off to not purchase the game. Agreed, That's why I said it is like militarized GTA. In GTA, your main charater also can take a lot punishment before going down. Anyway, the gameplay is very fun though. especially the ability to call down air strike. I just found out this about last night, if you hijack the helicopter, there is a hook you can lower to pick up jeep and such... Also when you in a jeep, you can use horn to get friiendly to man the gun...

They're referring to Winter of 2004-2005.. not 2005-2006.

There are really only 10 days of winter at the end of the year. The majority of winter comes at the beginning.

I saw a gameplay video of this one and it reminded me of Armed and Dangerous, which is cool because A&D rocked! This will probably be the next X-Box game I get (poor X-Box has been ignored since I fixed my PC).

As we mentioned, you'll choose one of three mercs to tackle the job, each with his or her own specialty. Chris Jacobs is an American ex-soldier whose physical training allows him to withstand bullet wounds and shrapnel that would take out the other mercs. Jennifer Mui is a former member of England's MI6, with a knack for stealth and covert ops. You third choice is Matthias Nilsson, a Swedish soldier whose agility makes him a gifted sniper. The one thing I didn't like is that your guy could take a LOT of bullets before he dies. Mind you, Ghost Recon 2 kinda quick deaths wouldn't be fun, but your character can take a whole clip before he's dead. Wink Kinda unrealistic and almost smacked of being arcade-ish. I'm not sure if that was a big enough turn off to not purchase the game. Could it be that your character was the American soilder?

That game's not supposed to be realistic. I don't believe they ever said it was supposed to be.
It's just supposed to be fun. Every once in a while I enjoy a game where I can run through guys while absorbing tons of bullets and not falling.
I'll probably pick this up next week.

I picked up the demo today and I must say it is a realy good and fun game. I am normaly iffy by demos but when you think about a hundred mission that can be done any which way. I have played the demo like 12 times so far and each time was differant. I however notice there is cash deductable for useing certain powers like air striks and bunker buster bombs, so imagin the grand scale to the game with the whole fraction balanceing act and taking jobs that earn you money to lay the bombs on the enemy. What I did not like was the AI seems to be retarded. explosing and people getting shot right in front of them and they are like duuhhh ok. I hope this is/was just for the demo sake I did also notice the demo lets you spend more than you earned,so it may just all be part of the see what you can do gimmic to sell the game. Also where is the Blood?? I saw blood in a video on the oficial web sit. The only reason I stoped playing was be cause of Troy. A damn good movie I must add if you havent seen it and liked Gladiator then go get it.

Are there more ways than one to say "In"? In fact, I am thinking that its time for us to start a new term for "in". I will take on the responsibility myself, and henceforth will use the following term (always using the Cartman voice) "Totally!"

I think trying one of the other characters might make it a lot more fun. The reviews I've seen already have just been outstanding!

I'm in, and the TV commercials they've been showing have been causing me to drool uncontrollably The first time I saw the commercial for it I was laughing uncontrollably. The whole "Blow stuff up" pause... "Blow it up again", "Blow up some more stuff", "Blow the living crap out of it", "blow the living crap out of it some more".. it's all just too funny. I had gone back and forth and decided not to buy this because I don't need another new game yet, but it looks soooooo good.

That was one of the best, most clever, best designed video game commercials I have ever seen. Sure, it does nothing but feed into the hysteria of violent videogames, but you know what, fuck them. Its a great commercial and the game looks like a blast (truth be told I may try the demo before I can finally say "Totally") but we shall see.

The reviews I've seen already have just been outstanding! Yeah, DD that's the killer for me. Normally I'll get anything that isn't an RPG anyway but add on great reviews and it's like I'm doomed from the start! I always think that I'm missing the point and if I played the game more I'd like it.

Just read EGM review, pretty sweet so far.
Full EGM Review (Scores : 8.5 8.5 9.0) Good: Aesthetics and vehicle variety, GTA-like freedom. Bad: Foggy horizon, minor A.I. problems Buildings: Fully destructible, every single on. Awesome.
The Verdicts (Out of 10): Mark: 8.5/10 Josh: 8.5/10 Official PS Mag---John: 9.0/10

Looks like a rental to me...
The commercials threw me off. In the commercials, you see the mercs talking. This instantly reminded me of Jagged Alliance 2 but after reading the IGN review, it seems there is NO story-line whatsover and the mercs are just templates and add no flavor.
Bummer....
