odd... did anyone else get a notification of achievements while playing?  I've gotten a few but nothings popped up saying I got them.

I believe you can turn this option off and on so you may have it set to "off"

I'll have to check that.  I got pop ups for AC and don't think I changed anything.

Spoiler for Hiden:
There is one in the back tunnel in the "bank area" I believe it is the bank or the room next to it that has a tunnel/stairway in the back. I found it doing another quest "Strange Signals"

Spoiler for Hiden:
It's the store next to that. It's got a little "T" in the back. Found that one already biggrin

well at my current level (37ish) Noveria was a cake walk.   About the only other place I have left available to go to is Feros so I'm assuming more stuff opens up after that.

So far my main crew has been Ashley and Tali (grrl power!  icon_lol), poor Liara, Rex, Garrus and Kaiden have been mostly bopping around the Normandy as those 2 seem to be an effective combination so far.  The weapons available after you hit a million creds are very nice, maybe too nice  icon_wink

That's been my combination as well.  Tali is the only one that has high enough hacking and electronic skills to open stuff, and Ashley is a freaking tank.  Haven't run into too many problems yet, although a little behind you level-wise (32).

A few more quests open up on/after  Ferros but not many if you've been diligent about exploring the galaxy.  Plus there are renegade and paragon specific quests that open up if you get the appropriate amount of points in those but I was too caught up in the main game at that point to bother with them.

I don't know exactly  because I didn't do them but, according to the strat guide, they open up when you get sufficient points (I think it's the same as the achievement- 75%) in paragon or renegade.

I'll try and look in the guide tonight and see if I can find out how to initiate them.

I know the one paragon quest I have currently is that some biotics corrupted some scientists and I need to go in and take out the biotics without harming the inoccent scientists.

My team has been Liara and Garrus, I am an infiltrator.

Really? I've got Liara in my group and Noveria was the next area I headed for.
I've only been to those two star systems so far.
I had assumed that other missions would take me to other places later.
I do have a number of side quests I could go mess with.
Perhaps I'll do that after Noveria.

Plot missions will only take you to a few planets.  If you want to do the rest you can either trigger the quests directly by either landing on the planet itself or finding queuing back on the Citadel or in various terminals on the plot worlds.

Citadel queuing tends to get updated after almost every plot event but I found 95% of the quests just by showing up in their systems.

For pacing reasons, I would recommend doing most of the side quests you are interested in before going to the planet after Noveria and Ferros.

Okay, looking at the guide, the Paragon mission is called:

UNC: Besieged Base

and the Renegade mission is called:

UNC: The Negotiation

Both are triggered by filling their corresponding gauge 75% and going to any system.

Both must be completed before going to

Ok so I finally finished the game and it took me 24 hours and I was level 48 or 49.  I somehow didn't get the completionist achievement or any of the ally achivements even though I used the same 2 allies the whole time.

Yeah, should be lots of renegade points there.

The main plot really gives out tons of points in both areas.  Spending almost 20 hours mainly on sidequests my points were pretty equally divided between both (which is fitting in with my character).  But once I started focusing on the main plot, the available points started skyrocketing and I still managed to to get the Paragon achievement.

I though I finished most of the side quests but a few more just popped up, including one on Feros I can't complete as it didn't turn up in Zhus Hope (I keep wanting to call it Zhus Landing)  until after I completed everything else and cannot go back to Exogeni  disgust  I checked the boards and the devs confirmed that you cannot go back, which doesn't make much sense.

What side quest on Ferros?

It's a quest to recover some info from a Exo Geni guys console in the Exogeni building.  I don't remember seeing him prior to me finishing everything else.

I did find out that it may be worth visiting the Citadel once you get up into the 40+ levels- a whole bunch of licenses popped up that you can spend your hard earned credits on.

Last night the Renegade quest popped up- they want me to negotiate something.  I can see where this one is going  icon_twisted  I also got the Completionist Achievement (somehow my pop ups got turned off but I don't recal doing so) but it looks like I still have alot to do at 33 hours or so of playtime.

Oh, and I bought those licenses and not alot of new stuff popped up on the Normandy; I was hoping for something neat with the Geth Industries one, but maybe something neat will pop up when I hit level 50.

Just finished a quest that lets you specialize, went Shock Trooper, it gives some nice bonuses. So far I have been using just Wrex and Tali, but Wrex can sometimes be a retard and stand in open areas even when I use the D-pad command to take cover.

all of them do that, it's kind of annoying.  Plus they have a tendency to shoot you too- I'll start taking hits from behind and turn expecting an ambush but it will be my squadmates.  The team AI is lacking a bit.

yeah, I probably just missed him.  too bad they didn't flag him to be just a regular non active NPC when you get to the point that you can't do the quest.  Thta would have saved me a bit of running around trying to find a way back there.

Play a solider and make sure that you have Garrus or Tali along for the ride the whole game and limit their ability to use powers autonomously.

Ok thanks Kevin!

I am a pure soldier using Tali and Liara the whole way, and its kind of crazy powerful when you learn what powers to use when and where and with my shields and tanking ability. I have used Garrus from time to time, but he isn't as good at tech as Tali, and isn't really that good at combat, so while I like the character, I don't tend to use him much. I do love all the biotic/tech powers though, and I am pretty sure my next run through will be something that relies heavily on those powers-while its mostly the same feeling using your teammates powers, its not quite the same as seeing the overload come shooting out of your hand smile But this game will have a lot of replayability for me I think.

Completed the game last night.  Hot damn what a great ride.  Full of issues and glitches?  You betcha!  Best game I've played in a long while?  No doubt.

OK, time to gear up for the final push.  I have the renegade sidequest to do, and then Virimire (or whatever it's called) plus any associated sidequests, and then I'm guessing it's endgame time.  I'm guessing I'll hit level 50 before it's over- I heard level 60 is the max but I'm not sure how one would get enough XP for that unless the harder difficulties like Insane give you more XP or there's alot more left to the game than I'm expecting.

Level 50 is the max on a first playthrough- Level 60 for New Game +.

And, yeah, I would recommend doing as many sidequests as possible before going to Virmire.  Though there is a bit more left to the game than you think.
