Filefront has a new gameplay trailer for Mass Effect, showing off some combat, psionic abilities, and the use of the buggy.  I'm hoping there will be a price drop on the 360 by summer, because if both Mass Effect and Blue Dragon are out by then, I don't think I'll be able to stop myself from buying one slywink

That looks pretty dang good!  I just hope they can fix some of those frame rate stutters.

tactical ......gone off them at the moment because of G.R.A.W. and gears of war at the moment(i'm on act 2)...looks as though it has turned into one of them

i just wanna be me.....i dont wanna look after other dumb squad members

EDIT:actually that trailer...doesnt show the tactical part of the game, there is like a 3-4 minute preview on xbox live marketplace that shows some more..especially on the speech and the questioning of NPCs

What's Blue Dragon?  Got any quick links? I wasn't interested in Mass Effect based on the previous trailer, but this one has some meat for me.

Blue Dragon is a turn-based traditional-style RPG from Hironobu Sakaguchi, the creator of Final Fantasy.  Since the character and enemy designs are being done by Akira Toriyama, it looks a lot like the Dragon Quest series.  There are a bunch of trailers here.  It's on the other end of the RPG spectrum from Mass Effect, but I'm really looking forward to both.

I don't know why but Blue Dragon just doesn't interest me even a little.  *shrug*  Maybe more trailers will help...

from the look of it, this isn't a stright up shooter, from that video, it shows a targetting crosshair being placed on whatever you want to shoot at.  Most likely it's still character stats that determine hits and such.  Bioware is trying to keep this RPG accessable to the non shooter crowd, which is a good thing.

It does look like they took what they learned from KoTOR and are now using it for their own setting.  I'm excited to see how they do now that they aren't chained to licenses.  Bioware was known for their large number of licensed material, I'm glad they're striking out on their own now.

Mass Effect has a real-time battle mechanic or a Kotor-like battle mechanic?  (I know - just watch the video moron!)

And if it is real-time, is it something that can be paused to give shooting and special ability orders, or is it straight-up real-time?

I can't access it at work, and I am curious, which is why I'm askin'.

By following the dev threads and other gameplay vids, I'm pretty sure it's real time with the ability to pause and order
