So, PS4 game reviews will start coming fast and furious in the next two weeks....but XB1 reviews, will be nowhere to be found. What gives? Any comment, Gaming Trend Staff?

My first thought is that some other publication has received exclusive pre-launch coverage or something, but that's like having Microsoft cut off its legs to get rid of a limp.

The one PS4 game I'm reviewing has the same embargo as current-gen, while the Xbone version embargo is a week later. I assumed it was due to the console release dates.

Do you actually have a PS4 and/or an Xbox One to review these games with? Flap your arms discreetly if you can't answer that.

He works for Polygon, a gaming website. He is also a huge Xbox fanboy/apologist....and has been banned from forums like NeoGaf because of his behavior.

Well, being banned from gaf isn't really a sign of much. But I've heard him on podcasts and I have to agree, he can get pretty one sided. Others on the podcast kind of reign him in.

Can someone translate his first tweet? I'm not exactly sure what he's trying to say. Is there some kind of connection between his first sentence and his second sentence?

I believe what he is trying to say is that there are only going to be PS4 reviews of next gen games next week that also have their current gen releases next week (ie. BF4 and AC4), but no XB1 reviews, even though they have played both the PS4 versions and the XB1 versions and have the reviews ready to go. The current rumor is that MS is refusing to let any reviews go live of XB1 games until Nov 12th.

Long as the reviews hit before the system comes out then I don't see the big deal. I guess Xbone fanboys don't like the possibility of positive PS4 reviews being out there with no corresponding XB1 reviews.

In a situation where pre-orders are almost necessary in order to get a console within the first few months after launch, pre-release information is extra important so that we can make educated choices about which product to buy, if any. Sony knows this and Microsoft knows this, so when either of them holds back information, it's easy to get suspicious as the consumer.

It's too late to pre order a PS4 anyways so what difference does it make if the reviews come out Nov 1st or Nov 12th? Either way it seems like a lose/lose for MS. Sony have a couple weeks of exclusive hype.

Pre-orders aren't binding (if they are, that's not really a pre-order), so if either console has bad news being hidden from us, getting knowledge about these news could lead people to decide they're better off canceling. Hiding vital information about a product you're selling until it's too late for the customer to do anything about it is borderline fraud in my opinion. Not saying that's what's happening here, but it's easy to jump to that conclusion when a large corporation is being unreasonably secretive right before releasing a new product.

I agree with this, but I think most pre-order went to hardcore gamers like us and all of us pretty much know which system we're going with.  Saying that MS keeping an embargo is place is stupid and will only stoke suspicion about the system capabilities

There's always the option to hold on to your amazon.com order without opening it once it's delivered.   Wait 48 hours or so and see if the interwebs explode with complaints.

Those pre-orders were made long ago. If someone went with one of the bundles they know full well they are committing to the game(s) without having reviews to make a decision so no it still doesn't matter much. As for the rest if the Nov 12th info is right then you got 10 days to read reviews to your hearts content before its out.

He didn't exactly say that....he said it wasn't related to someone being mad that they spent $500 on something. It could very well be the "no reviews allowed" situation.

I've got to write about 60 pages over the course of the last week of November, so mine may very well be untouched until December 1st.  of course that would be the smart thing to do with that much work due, so I probably won't icon_lol

1. He works in the games industry so he is most likely talking about games.
2. He refers to "power over truth"  so it sounds to me like he's talking about a certain kind of censorship.
3. Which of the 3 main video game companies are knowingly suppressing the truth at the moment?
4. He says he's surly. People are very rarely surly when they have good news that they want to tell but aren't allowed to. This means he probably has bad news.

Canuck, feel free to read his responses to questions about the XB1 being the issue:

https://twitter.com/AdamSessler

He maintains it has nothing to do with a $500 purchase, or something future XB1 owners will need to worry about.

Also, he gets called a corporate cockslave.
