I know these are two not-at-all related games, but I am considering buying one of these with some extra cash from the game sale I am doing. I love love love space sims, so darkstar one is not a big stretch for me-but wanted some opinions on it. Same with Warhammer-is it really worth it, the reviews were very mixed.

Thanks!

Darkstar One is a fun space shooter. Decent story, weapons and ship components to upgrade, and your ship itself 'morphs' as you put 'levels' into it.

Better than Star Trek: Legacy at least.

Is Darkstar One like Freelancer in concept or more like an RPG or more like... oh nevermind, I'll go read about it.

I had already read about it but I felt like I needed some GT impressions. Thanks for the info Destructor-did you find the combat engaging enough to make the game worth it? Its not that expensive.

Still looking for Mark of Chaos impressions!

Darkstar One was just ok.  There really was no point to go outside of the story arc except to get the level up crystals.  It seemed to want to be everyman's space sim: Decent, Freelancer, Freespace.  The story was also pretty bad.

I picked it up at Target today. None of the pictures made me remotely interested in buying it. I put it back down.

I played in the WH:MoC beta and it's pretty good but I think I might be burnt out on RTS.  If you like RTS a lot you'd probably enjoy it.

Thanks man. I think I am going to get this if I can find it on sale. I'm still considering Medieval 2, and have a tiny tiny hankering for NWN2-but this is in the lead.

I just recently started Darkstar one and i am having a blast. Yeah it is repeative, but I happen to like the story and it is very openended. I wish I had played it more when I first got it. I highly recommend it if you like space flight games with a pretty good story. It just has that one more turn/5 more minute quality.
