If you haven't played it yet buy Fire Emblem immediately.  Its a strategy RPG but its a fantastic game.  Great story, characters, and play mechanics that are easy to grasp but with a wealth of strategic options.  Combat animations are spectacular too.

Otherwise- have you played Lunar?  I thought it was a lot of fun and pretty darn gorgeous to boot.

Superstar Saga.  A great RPG if you're into the whole Mario-Luigi thing.

RPG:  (Superstar Saga.  Great even if you don't know jack about Mario.)

SRPG:  Final Fantasy Tactics Advance.  (I personally put 80 hours into it, completing every mission and improving my main character so much that he could literally solo any fight in the game.  The best part?  That entire process was fun.)

Shining Force 2 and Shining Soul both suck.  And I speak from a lost $60 of experience.

Sigh, thanks for the advice.  I played and beat Mario & Luigi Superstar and Fire Emblem I have played, but the hard core mode turns me off.  Guess, I will wait til next month.

Hmmm, maybe I should give Shadow Hearts:Covenant a try or Star Ocean

I'd go with Shadow Hearts.  A much, much, much better game imo.
