So i was in Gamestop today and saw a sign for the Logitech Wheel for $49.  I was wondering if anyone has used this and can give me an idea if this is worth the $50 or not.  I've been eyeing the Microsoft wheel, but i can't get myself to drop $130 on that one.

Is this a suitable alternative and would it play good with Forza and Dirt?  The price seems really good compared to MS.

personally I would either buy the microsoft wheel (which I did) or no wheel at all.  I don't think any of the other 360 wheels offer enough value for the money they cost.

The Logitech wheel doesn't have force feedback, it's just rumble.  The rumble jerks the steering column instead of shaking the hand grips or something like that to make it a better feeling rumble, but it's still not force feedback.  Also, the Logitech wheel only turns 180 degrees (90 each direction) compared to the Microsoft's 270.  I admit fifty bucks is a good price point, but it's just another fifty for the Microsoft wheel.  ($100 at Gogamer)

If I were going to drop the bones on a wheel I personally would have to go with something force feedback, but if you're on a budget I think the Logitech wheel would still treat you well for such a good price.  I believe the Logitech was originally $100.

I keep getting tempted by the Microsoft wheel myself, especially with the price down to $100, but I think I'm going to make do with the controller until Logitech comes out with its own FF wheel for the 360, hopefully with a stick shifter instead of paddles:

You know, it would be really cool if Microsoft would get a kiosk with a wheel setup that you could try in some place like Best Buy.  I would be much more willing to one if I could actually try it out first.

Hmmmm......is that GoGamer a sale price or is it down to $100 already?  Now that is really really tempting.

I just got the Microsoft Wheel!  GoGamer is incredible.  I ordered it on Tuesday of this past week and it arrived on Friday!  And that was with normal ground shipping.  The $100 is a GoGamer sale and their shipping is FAST!  Furthermore, I got PGR3 for free with it!  I never expected that.  I never owned PGR3 or any racing game for that matter.

Well, I tried it out with PGR3 and the Dirt demo.  I have to say that my first try at racing was a nightmare.  I was all over the road.  I couldn't go straight.  I was over compensating with the wheel.  But, after calming down and continuing to practice, in about 20 minutes I was racing and it all clicked.  And then I couldn't stop playing.

For someone like me who hates racing games I have to say that this wheel has showed me how much fun racing games can be.  I'm even going to pick up Forza 2 tomorrow and hopefully join in on some multiplayer with you guys.

The handling of the wheel is fantastic.  Just try the Dirt demo with the dune buggy things on the bumpy dirt track and you will see how fantastic this wheel is.  I cannot praise it enough.

Believe me when I say it has made me, a non-racing fan, into one who is eagerly looking forward to trying them all out!

How does that shifter even work? doens't look like it allows any movement.  I got spoiled by this ( http://www.act-labs.com/products/race1.htm#RS ) many years back, then they pulled it and I thought all was lost.  When I just went to get a screenshot of it I was very excited to see that they started making them again last year. Might have to pick another up.

The shifter in the picture moves forward or backward.  You push it forward to shift up, pull back to shift down.  It's basically two buttons attached to a stick.  The wheel also has paddle shifters, so you can use whichever you want.  I usually set the shifter to be the e-brake when pulled back.  More immersive that way.

ah, ok.  If it's just a progressive shifter then I'm not interested.  I'd prefer paddles for progressive shifting, I just want a true gated shifter for the 360 like the Act Labs wheel had for the PC.

Logitech has a gated 6-speed shifter on their G25 wheel (PC only I think?), but sadly it runs a hefty $300.

$300? ouch

When I grabbed my wheel it had the 3 pedals, gated shifter, wheel and a bunch of different plates for the shifter for about $200.

When I tried the 360 wheel I thought it was awful, but it's certainly possible I just got a bad one or something.
Now that Microsoft is supposedly going to allow a third party wireless peripheral, I'd love to see them let Logitech do a wheel.
The RS is very highly regarded, and I thought about getting one at one time, but settled on the original Logi MOMO wheel
(the red one) and it's wonderful. Unfortunately my cat ate the cables a while back...I need to see if I can get a replacement harness.
