Having burned out on Borderlands 2 and awaiting XCOM Enemy Unknown, I was skimming through Steam when I saw Race 07. I vaguely remembered this when it came out but was busy with other things. I hadn't been investigating racing games for the PC because while I do have a nice processor (i7-2600S), my video card (Radeon HD6570) is pretty borderline for gaming anything new. However it's fine with five year old games which weren't really all that graphically cutting edge back then. And hey, it's only $2.99 USD icon_biggrin

And for three bucks, there's a lot to it. As a big Forza fan I will admit that the physics in Race 07 aren't going to set the world on fire, but it's a sim and not an arcade racer and with all assists off it does feel right, which is what's important to me. And there's a nice variety of tracks, including reverse Monza which is weird but fun. And a nice selection of cars from fun to throw around Minis to very fast and stuck to the ground F3000 machines. And the game doesn't make you grind through any kind of pyramid or campaign, everything is unlocked from the start. Cars are broken down into series like the WTCC, F3000, Radicals, etc and all cars can race on all tracks. And the icing on the cake is that you can create custom races and even series where you can not only select the tracks, but you can select which types of cars from which series can be raced by you and the AI. So you can go spec racing against up to 24 AI cars in just one car type, or mix in cars classes from all over the performance map. I made a race with all the different cars (I gave myself a fast F3000 slywink) and soon I was weaving through Minis and racing sedans while hunting down Radicals and insanely fast Caterhams.

And for three bucks, it's priced just right. Of course now I'm feeling myself drawn in to get the $52 worth of DLC too Roll Eyes

Are you using a wheel or 360 controller?

I've purchased ALL the SimBin games over the years, but have never played any of them.  paranoid

GTR, GTR2, GTR Evolution, STCC, RACE07, etc.

I'm using the 360 controller. It set up very easily in Race 07 and since I'm used to racing with it in Forza I'm happy with it in this game.

One of the nice touches of this game is that after a session it evaluates how well the game ran (frame rates) and suggests adjustments in the graphics settings. Cool.

I own many of Simbin's racing sims - GT Legends is my favorite, GTR Evolution my least. Out of all I own GT Legends is the only game which I completed. Race 07 is their only game I haven't picked up , but I've considered it many a time.

Something else to be aware of is that Simbin has, or is just about to, release the Free2Race/F2P  RaceRoom Racing Experience on Steam. That games looks very promising although it isn't very clear how far you can go in it without paying $. Still, its from a very good racing game developer and its at least initially free. smile
