the new Electronic Gaming Magazine says that the pre-order bonus for the new Legend of Zelda game is going to be "a bonus disc that features a visually remade version of Link's 2003 adventure [Wind Waker]"... EGM, pg. 56. you heard right - a separate no cel-shading, Wind Waker disc, done in the new graphics with the more mature looking Link. unbelievable! you must put down at least $10. The first day you can do this is the first of April. hopefully it's not a Fool's Day joke. oh, and there are two full-length dungeons that had been cut from the original Wind Waker. unbelievable! i will be at EB games on 4-1-05, probably with my shoes untied

I'm taking this with an ENORMOUS grain of salt... the date alone is enough to disbelieve it.

I know they cut dungeons fro WW, it really would be nice to play them (with the original graphics, though.) That is a good idea for a bonus, joke or not.

except for the fact that they've been doing it for about 20 years now and everyone is pretty much in on it. It's a gag, and who ever said video game journalism is professional?

well it's just so painfully obvious when you read the print and look at the picture, even if they remade it with the updated graphics Link would still have to be younger since he was pretty much a kid throughout windwaker...
On a personal note, I think changing the graphics of Windwaker would ruin the charm it has, something about how well it all meshes together.

I know they cut dungeons [from] WW ... Reeeeeeeaaaaalllllyyyy? Got any info on this? (The third "coloured ball o' magic" that you earned always seemed a little easy, like there should have been a dungeon there.)

Shigeru Miyamoto himself has said it on many occasions, he felt that the two additional dungeons made the game too hard the younger set, shame that he couldn't have just made them OPTIONAL, so those who want to play them could...

Ah, Sheng Long. Wasn't that the first April's Fools joke EGM did so long ago? And wasn't the story something about beating the game flawlessly on level 8 with Ryu or something like that?

Really? I recall the reason being time constraints and that's the only reason I can find with Googling. Nintendo is evidently trying to be better about releasing games in a timely manner this generation and decided to cut content in order to make the release date. Evidently the two cut dungeons didn't even get far into the programming stage before they were removed. The dungeons being too hard doesn't make sense to me- if the dungeons were too hard, the difficulty could be easily tweaked without removing them. It still wouldn't have out done OoT wrt to number of dungeons and that game had no trouble appealing to everyone. Plus, the most "adult" Zelda game, Majora's Mask, only had four dungeons IIRC.

How are you defining your numbers? Hardware units sold? Game units? Profits? International presence? Nintendo is doing just fine. Stop spending your nights crying into your pillow for them.

Aside from the date and the fact that no one else has talked about it, I don't think this couldn't possibly be true (though I 'm not saying it is or that I think it is). The next Zelda is using the Wind Waker engine, slightly tweaked. So it would be possible...
