I've picked up Chrono Trigger, but I want some other for my library.  I want to pick up one of the Phoenix Wrigh's game.  Which one should I get.  chime in with the recommendation

For the Phoenix Wright games, you should definitely play them in order (if you can find them). Each individual title has self-contained cases, but there's an ongoing storyline that runs throughout the series.

Other games to get:

Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time
Time Hollow
Final Fantasy Tactics A2
Dragon Quest IV
Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
Final Fantasy IV

Chrono Trigger. (Buy it again, awesome game) Tongue
Advance Wars: Dual Strike or Advance Wars:  Days of Ruin (think I got the name wrong).

Here's a couple of semi-recent titles I enjoyed:

Ninja Town.  A great tower defense game. It's definitely on the cutesey side, but it was challenging and plenty of fun.   I think its pretty cheap now, too.

Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker was a fun monster catcher/trainer style RPG.   Less kiddie than pokemon, but most of the critters still have a goofy sort of charm.   Surprisingly complex, but not frustrating.

Everthing suggested so far is great. The only other title I'd suggest is Hotel Dusk Rm 251 if you enjoy adventure games.

ELITE BEAT AGENTS

Gah, always forget about this one.  Seconded.

I initially shunned it because of my love for all things j-pop and Ouendan, but it's a very fun game.

I never did beat "Jumpin' Jack Flash" at the very hardest difficulty frown

Don't get Elite Beat Agents.  The difficulty is all wrong.  I love the game, but it's waaaaay too hard for a lot of people.  There's a reason it's in bins for $5 these days.

If you're new to the DS party, you definitely want to get Mario Kart DS.  It's one of the best Mario Kart games ever.  New Super Mario Bros. is excellent as well, as is Final Fantasy Tactics A2.

ELITE BEAT AGENTS

No, no no.  SL cannot be more wrong.  The game that you want is not Elite Beat Agents.  The game you want is the Japanese version called "Moero: Ouendan 2" or something like that.  It is so superior to EBA that it makes me want to cry.

Elite Beat Agents is my favorite game on the DS and, by a huge margin, the best music/rhythm game I've ever played.  The fact that we have twelve thousand Guitar Hero games and only one EBA makes me  crybaby crybaby  crybaby

No. It isn't. That is all.

Or perhaps not.
Best games that also offer unique DS experiences:
Elite Beat Agents
Soul Bubbles
Zelda: Phantom Hourglass

Other strong recs:
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
Hotel Dusk Room 215
Meteos
Picross
Tetris DS
Castlevania (all)
Puzzle Quest
FF Tactics A2

Soon to be out and sure to rock:
Trackmania DS
Peggle DS
Puzzle Quest Galactrix
GTA Chinatown Wars

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
Hotel Dusk Room 215
Meteos
Picross
Tetris DS
Castlevania (all)
Puzzle Quest
FF Tactics A2

Pretty much this list.

And I'll remain the lone dissenting voice on Elite Beat Agents.  Possibly the most overrated and overhyped game I've ever played, and I'm a fan of the rhythm genre.

the japanese version really is better. I got the american EBA and japanese EBA 2. I like the EBA 2 better. The songs are less crappy and easy mode is ridiculously easy instead of no change from the other modes.

Some great games on the DS.  Though I really wanted to like elite beat agents but it is just too hard, I can't get past one of the mid-levels for the life of me.   icon_frown

No order but these games I played the most.  I can play at anytime, good stuff here:
Mario Kart
New Super Mario
Shiren Mystery dungeon
Puzzle Quest - perfect DS game
Final Fantasy Tactics Advance 2
Pheonix Wright games
Animal Crossing
Final Fantasy 4
The world ends with you

About the only thing I would really like to see on the DS that hasn't come out... An original paper mario game

I really want a Smash Brothers game on the DS.  I know, I know, they made Jump! Ultimate Stars, but that's not what I want.  I want a new Smash Brothers game.  Can we get on this, please?

I bought a DS this last weekend too:)  Lurked in this thread and got me some game suggestions from it.

I picked up:

The world ends with you
FF IV remake
Age of Empires: Mythologies

Will try some of the others once i play through all 3 of these:)

I'll have to hit the trade forum now too and see if i can pick some up for less than gamestop prices.  So far i'm really enjoying the system.  I take it with me going to visit family on the weekends and have been playing it for 30 minutes before falling asleep in bed every night since i got it:)

I have never owned a nintendo or playstation of any type before so i've never been a fan of or played any Final Fantsy games before...i can correct that now:)

Make sure you play FFTA2 on hard. It's mind-numbingly easy on normal.

Are you kidding me?  FFTA2 was fine on normal.  I'm not great at tactics-style games, but ugh.  I can't imagine playing it on hard.

+1.  I thought normal difficulty was perfect, and wouldn't have had near as much fun if it was significantly harder.

Great game.  If you have any interest in card and board games, this is $20 very well spent.
