Well... I'm almost to the point of getting around to playing Knights of the Old Republic (part I) on the PC.  I've had the box on my shelf for a pretty long time, and I'm starting to get the itch to play it finally.

So... anyone know if it supports 1680x1050 resolution?  If not, is there a tweak to make it play in that resolution by chance?

Thanks.

There's a fan-made hack that allows it. I've never tried it, though, so caveat emptor and all that.

Shit ralph, I was just about to post saying, "sorry man, I have tried everything and can't find a way". Awesome news, I am going to try it!

BTW lockdown, I am starting yet another runthrough very soon, so we can compare notes maybe!

Great.  I'll look into the hack.

Calvin: Sure, we could compare notes.  Warning though, I am a notoriously slow rpg gamer.  If you try the hack before I do, let me know how it seems to work please.

 eek

Blasphemy!  Just now you're getting the itch?  The Force does not runneth through you my friend.

I'm already going through again on the PC (thanks to warning's generous loan of KOTOR).  thumbsup

I just left Tarsis and I'm on my way to the Jedi Temple on Dantooine.  I too take a really long time to play RPGs, especially KOTOR since I want to savor every moment.  I'm going through with a female Jedi this time and I'm pure good side of the Force (there is no other way as far as I'm concerned).  I installed several mods to the game.  When I get home tonight I will check which ones I installed and let you know.

I had to jump through hoops to get to this game to run under Vista last night.  The Securom copy protection kept on saying it wouldn't let the program run due to 'emulation software' - I don't think I have anything on my new rig except for the basic Windows stuff- so I had to spend an hour going through forums trying to figure out how to get past it.  I finally had to set the KOTOR.exe file to 'run as administrator' to get past it.  I wonder if that would have solved my Gothic 3 copy protection issues...

This is the second game I've had issues with under Vista due to the copy protection  icon_mad

and no support for 1440x900?   mad mad  All the other resolutions looks funky- like the characters are too broad.  Another playthrough may be killed by that annoyance.

Yeah, it would be a real shame if Ballista's ass looked too big.

Well, that is a bit of a problem.  Now I'm even more interested to hear your results with widescreen thing, Calvin.

If you report back it's not doing what it should, I'll load it on my 2nd computer with the normal monitor.  I'm assuming the game supports 1280x1024?

I've never played it.  Perhaps this thread will make me actually try a KOTOR game...

There are a ton.  Everything from character mods to conversation mods to weapon mods etc.  I left my laptop at home so I can't remember the mods or the site.  I will post what mods I used once I get home late tonight unless somebody else here knows.

I don't own Kotor for the PC, but I've often thought about getting it. The problem is I'm about 60% through my 2nd play through on the XBox version and put it aside some time ago. I was aware of the widescreen patch and knew I'd need it since my gaming PC is only connected to a HDTV. I had heard there were a few glitches with the patch, namely that it gimps the HUD map.

Any tips for getting it to run under Vista? I've tried everything in compatibility (including run as admin), but I get an error when I launch the game (update and configure work fine). When I have it test my system, it fails under the open GL setting. Not sure what that means. I've got the business edition of Vista if that matters. Thanks.
