Are they done yet?! I want to finish KOTOR II but I simply couldn't with the messy state in which it was released.

Exactly why I was pumped about it prior to release and am thankful I never got around to picking it up. By the time I was ready for it others had burned through it and to a one said that it rolls over and dies about 3/4 of the way through and there wasn't much of an ending. Then I learned why and decided not to play it. Then I heard about the restoration project and my hopes were renewed. In theory, this mod should complete the game and only then a Jedi will I play.

Watching that trailer, I didn't realize how much of KOTOR II's story I'd forgotten.  As soon as they finish the project, I'll be ripe for another run through.

This is the page to look at as far as progress goes. At the bottom is a real time report of the total fixes they still have to make. Can say they are working on it since as of yesterday a major bug was fixed. If I was to fashion a guess I would say mid-March to April for release but they might be at a point now where they can see the light and are going to work feverishly to finally get this done. Either way a big thanks is needed. Besides Bloodlines I can't recall another game being fixed by fans for so long.

Meh.  I was satisfied with the story as it was.

If I decide to replay in a few years, hopefully they will be done by then  Tongue  I never did finish playing dark side.

Finished both KOTORS twice. The first one is so much better than the second one though. I tried to replay the 2nd one a third time but just could'nt make myself do it. the ending is so out of whack with the rest of the game. KOTOR 1 though I have to urge to replay yet again. Ill be glad when Jade Empire makes it to the PC.

I really really wish we'd get Mass Effect for the PC sooner rather than later if at all.

Jade Empire was fun, but I'm having trouble seeing the controls being any good on the PC.

But JE controls weren't that good on the XBox. If anything the game might improve with a mouse and keyboard scheme.

I thought they were fairly straight forward.  I really wish they would do a Knights of the Old Republic using the same engine.

I never got all the dislike for Jade Empire- different strokes for different folks  icon_biggrin  Jade Empire is the only Bioware games that I have played through on the first try, and it's even one of the few games I've gone through and replayed again multiple times including a couple of back to back replays for the good and evil path.  All of their other games took me years to get around to playing through (if I bothered to play through them at all).  Even KotOR took me several tries to get into and I love Star Wars.

I liked JE enough that I played it to the Imperial City three times (XBox twice and 360 once) but each time I just purely got sidetracked and distracted rather than lost interest. Now that it is coming out on PC I am determined to play it all the way through and enjoy it. I wish they hadn't waited so long. Its not a very complicated or graphically intensive game, and you have got to figure that people are going to forget about it.

I'm glad it's getting closer to completion. I've held off on playing either the XBox or PC version of KOTOR II in anticipation of this. I hope it's ready soon because I get a terrible itch for the game whenever I'm in a game store.  icon_eek

No kidding. I've been dying to play this since the game was announced but didn't get to it once it was released. Then I heard about the problems so I held off on a patch. Then I heard about this, understood the depth of the screw-job Lucasarts gave to us in order to hit Christmas, and decided to wait until the game was finished by these guys. If it takes until the end of this year, then I'm fine with that. Go Team Gizka!

I grabbed a copy when I saw it at Target for 20 bucks just in case it's hard to find/out of circulation by the time they finish the project.

It's already getting relatively hard to find, good call picking it up. I got it (again-owned it on PC and Xbox before) in trade a few weeks ago. I plan on replaying KOTOR again in the next month or so, and then hopefully playing KOTOR2 again when this patch comes out (of course, I was one of the few people that really had only minor problems with the retail release-I mean, I saw what they cut out, but managed to find a way to enjoy it anyways!)

Add me in to the count of people who'll be replaying KOTOR 2 once this gets released. I've been following it too, and can't believe there're only 44 issues to be dealt with. I imagine this'll probably be done around late summer/fall time.

Since it's becoming scarce amongst the game retailers in my city, I picked up my copy yesterday. Left it on a shelf of my media cabinet with it's crisp, shrink-wrapped fineness in full view. Couldn't take it any longer so this morning I secluded it away in the deepest bowels of my study. And now it image burns on...and...on in my mind. This evening it's going to my sisters for safe keeping.  paranoid

If the Team Gizka patch isn't out by Christmas, I'll reward my patience by allowing myself one play through.

CK, check more often, please. Lets hope the last little piece dies before they finish; apparently that's the only way to kill a digital zombie like you. Tongue

I may pick this up when it's finished; I loved the working half of the game.

It's been maddening, checking the site every day, and seeing that one minor bug there. They are just so close to build 8 but just can't seem to jump that hurdle. It was nice to see ten bugs quashed in a day though.

Finishing it isn't the problem. The problem was that Lucasarts basically forced Obsidian to release the game earlier than they would have liked, hence a fair amount of stuff was left unfinished but still in the game resources. So what we got was a good/great start with an ending that fell apart. What this group is doing is restoring as much of the cut content as they can.

Here is the team's page which gives a better understanind of what I am talking about.

I really suspect that someone at Obsidian secretly leaked some dev tools, specs, and maybe some media files to the restoration team.

I just got KOTOR 1 & 2 for $25.00 one ebay. waiting for shipping. Should I have not done that. icon_cry
I mean you can not literally complete KOTOR2?

I completed it, but the story and even the art are incomplete in the last half of the game and it's crash-prone as well.  KOTOR 1 kicks ass, though.

Once I finish my current playthrough in Neverwinter Nights 2 I may have play through the Eevile path of KotOR 1 in preparation for Sith Lords.

Depending on what happens with this FF7 group playthrough, going through KOTOR 1 is next on my list of RPGs to replay.
