Several stores around Chicagoland are starting to have significant sales on the Kinect. One example is the Kinect controller + Child of Eden + Kinect Adventures for $99.
Based upon those of you who have owned the device, have you been pleased with your purchase, or has buyer's remorse set it. I'm still not exactly sold on having to stand up while gaming, and there aren't many games in the current stable that look like "must have" titles. But MS seems committed to the Kinect and some of the upcoming titles look interesting.
So, yay or nay?

if it was that price here,i would actually be in for it,but its still £130,and i can not justify that price,if it was $99 that would work out at approx £65,half price what we are paying now!!
also, the new 360 dashboard looks set to be Kinect heavy

I like it, myself. I've played some fun games on it like Child of Eden and Gunstringer. I've also enjoyed Kinectimals, Dance Central (1 and 2), and Kinect Adventures. The voice stuff they are starting to put in is nice as well. Being able to go to other sections of Forza 4 or saying what song, mode, and difficulty in Dance Central 2 is nice as well. I am also anxious to get all the voice stuff in the Fall update. I am very happy with it.

I like not having to keep track of where my mic is, and love the voice controls for Netflix. Other than that I haven't gotten much use out of it.

The kids love fruit ninja. I haven't played much beyond the first month except during the occasional get together. I have not bought either of the newer games but I will probably try to find them cheap on the used or clearance shelf after the glut of winter titles.

I enjoy it. You should offer to ship a bundle out to metallicorphan. He needs yet another distraction in his life. MMO's just aren't cutting it anymore.

I really like it, especially the game Child of Eden. I am very excited about what developers can do with this hardware, by enhancing games in simple and subtle ways like Forza 4. The upcoming mech game Steel Battallion is another good example of Kinect serving as the GUI and voice command interface. Mass Effect 3 integration looks interesting as well.

Bought on Amazon today w/ Kinect Adventures, Gunstringer, and Fruit Ninja for $99. Is the unit compatible with any 360? I realized after I placed the order I wasn't sure.

Unless I'm mistaken, it's just a matter of whether or not you'll be forced to run an additional power cord (which is included).

Big nay. I bet some kids love it and dancing games are kind of fun but it's not really what I want to use my time on and I don't think it works that well.

Unless I'm mistaken, it's just a matter of whether or not you'll be forced to run an additional power cord (which is included). That's my understanding as well, the new 'slim' models have a specific power port for the Kinect. I also fall squarely into the 'Nay' camp, having no kids left at home and having no desire to play games by jumping around or pretending to hold a driving wheel in my hands.

Ah, that's right. I knew there was something different on the slim machines, but didn't know if I needed an adapter or something.
At any rate, I got it for the kids. My son actually wants it because he can get Phys Ed credit for playing with one. Got the first Kinect Sports for him and got Dance Central 2 for my daughter.

Personally its a Nay. Friends in my LAN group have them and we sometimes play a game with it, but its rare and personally I have no interest in buying one. I'm also not that impressed with its integration in both Forza 4 and Halo Anniversary. I think from the game industry perspective its a Yay as its had good sales and support from both 1st and 3rd parties. With very few hardcore game utilizing it in a meaningful way though, I still think its a Nay in terms of the overall 360 install base.

Bullshit. You just want a Black and White title to give you an excuse to punch your monkey.

I just got 1 yesterday Black Saturday for $109 with 3 games included. It was an impulse buy and so far I am not feeling any regret from it. It looks good reads great images and the voice commands are on point even with my Island accent mon. Then there is This that's due next month. My kids loves it, I like how it tracks me when I am at my desk talking via video chat and I don't need a mic. I was not one for it but I give it a tumbs up at $110.

Then there is This that's due next month. yes, the new dashboard is awesome with the voice commands. that said I haven't been playing many games with it, mainly due to lack of space. that should be fixed next month.
