So we've had pricing, why it will fail, why it will succeed, why it'll make Purge's ass look fat, but I figured it'd be fun to get an informal count of who is actually planning on getting this. I figure what the hell, I've got money to burn so I'm putting in a pre-order.

nope. 150 for a bunch of family styled sports games and the potential for cooler integration later? i'll wait until that potential is reality and they've dropped the price 50 bucks.
you know fable 3 isn't shipping with kinect support, right?

no buy here...at least not any time soon. there just haven't been enough interesting applications of the tech to pull me in yet, and the price is too high to just take a chance on what they might do with it in the future. i'll be keeping an eye on the tech in case they ever do something more interesting with it though...

nope, much like 3D, this will die out again.
The most nifty feature of kinect is the dashboard thing but that's not even close to worth that price. If games use it to augment their controls, maybe. If I can finally play FPS on the console w/o the horrible auto aim and shitty ass controller controls then maybe i'll look at it. But I'm not playing a 30 hour long RPG standing up.

Not now. Maybe later if they make something I simply must play. None of the games currently do that for me.
I think the immersion of kinect is interesting and I think the technology is neat, but I don't see anything I'd actually want to play.

too pricey ....maybe after a year or two when the prices are dirt cheap, and then it would only be bought for showing off when watching DVDs,and not playing video games, and i am not even sure if the space in my room will be enough

In eventually, but not unit it's seen at least 1 price drop and after I move the 360 out of the den. In other words - very unlikely I'm IN for it's 1st year on the maket.

Maybe the whole red ring of death was an intentional ploy by MS to get people to have to eventually buy a new 360 bundled with Kinect.

Totally out. Aside from the fact that the entire concept doesn't interest me at all, there's absolutely no way I have room to do any sort of "movement" gaming with the way my TV room is set up. I've got about 5 feet between my couch and the TV, with a coffee table between the two. It would require me to rearrange my room every time I wanted to play a game, which simply isn't going to happen. I also have an old rear-projection TV, which gets difficult to see unless you're sitting directly in front of it.
I want to plant my ass on the couch and leave it there while I play, thank you very much.

I'll be interested the day that something like Kinect lets me play games in a much more natural and immersive way. If I can play a fighting game by actually throwing kicks and punches or swinging a sword, or play an FPS by actually pointing a gun, I'll be in. Until then, I'm not seeing the value.

I'm out based on what I've seen so far and the price.
However, I'm still open to the idea of it working or that controller support will be announced as a major part of it and be viable.

It can read ASL - american sign language. That blows my mind... this thing has the potential to be really cool. But they need games and it has to work from the couch if it's to succeed as a gaming device.

Wow, I didn't know that... but, alas, I can still hear - and my attempts at learning ALS have failed (holding my arms up and remembering things being my two weakest suits.) But that is far-sighted and very cool. Still OUT! though - it's too expensive, I can't use most of it, and my deaf friends don't play videogames. Still IN! as a possibility for a future purchase, but certainly not now and not at that price.

Haha, the Kinect actually can't read sign language. It's just a patent that is impossible on the regular Kinect's camera, only usable with the prototype. The Kinect can't even detect your fingers in the first place. This is all according to a new statement by Microsoft.
