Article has it right, using move in killzone controls just like mag, you have to aim to the side of the screen to turn.  I might play with settings later, but I'm pretty sure I'll be sticking with the dual shock.

Just imagine if you had no neck movement and had to point your arms the direction you want your legs/torso to turn.

I will add that the mp gameplay is good, will be better than kz2 based on the beta.

I had fun with the Move controls (it's very customizable, BTW - you can change how far to the edge you want to go to turn).  They work well, but they're not a replacement for the DS3.

I played a mode against bots last night, I think it was warzone, where it cycled between game modes when a round ended.  Very fun!

icon_lol Yeah, I use it for exclusives. Infamous, Uncharted and Resistance will all get my money this year. Maybe All 4 One if other people are getting it.

There's offline split screen co-op through the campaign, which was confirmed in a review. Weirdly enough it was only confirmed in passing, but it's there.

I think if i remember rightly,Edge are like EG and they try and go against the flow(or maybe cause a little controversy),and give lower scores than everyone else...i may just be basing that on a few reviews in the past, but that is what it usually seems like to me

Gamespot and IGN(at least IGN UK)have both given the game 8.5

Based on the controls in the beta, they finally got rid of the KZ specific float.  The game controls wonderfully now.

I'm actually surprised at the relatively low scores, overall.

Given the time spent on this, I was expecting an out of the park experience, bringing in scores in the 9 - 10 range.

I know these scores aren't technically "bad" just lower than I expected, is all.

Well, I looked at the black ops scores on metacritic.

For example IGN:

Black ops = 85    Killzone 3 = 85

Edge gave both games a 70.

etc.   They are all very close, mainly dogging out the single player.

I have never even tried the single player in black ops..

So, just comparing it to black ops, it looks like they are staying consistant for the most part.

I guess I'm comparing it to the Killzone 2 reviews.  IGN gave that one a 9.4, for example.

Here's an excellent video on Move controls for KZ3. It looks like turning with the Move won't be a problem with customizable dead zone settings. Very impressive.

Yea, hell game may suck for all i know, hah.

Black ops is the first "FPS" I have played allot since Return to Castle Wolfenstein.    Loving Black ops.   I hope this ones good too.

The reviews don't tell me allot, since black ops got the same scores and its fooking awesome...  (At least if you like FPS)

Killzone 3 MP has these things called ribbons which are basically like perks, but you have to earn them during a match and they last for that match only (some are timed).  I was wondering what these did and just found out so wanted to share with anyone else who is planning on getting this game:

Double Kill XP (Lasts 60 seconds)
Requirement: Complete an objective in Operations or Warzone

Increased Accuracy (Increases accuracy by 25%)
Requirement: Get 3 Melee Kills

Increased Bullet Damage (Increases damage by 25%)
Requirement: Get 5 Assists

Faster Aim (Reduces ADS time by 50%)
Requirement: Get 10 kills whilst ADS

Faster Reload (Reload 50% faster)
Requirement: Get 10 hip-fire kills

The author of that article was on last week's "Jumping the Shark" podcast and talked up Killzone 3's Move support there, too.  Add in Heavy Rain and Resident Evil 5, and I'm more and more inclined to pick up a Move the next time I see a good deal....

Giant Bomb just posted a Quick Look at their review copy of the game.  Ryan Davis seemed a bit put off by the speed of the movement and amount of motion blur, but as the man with the controller, Jeff Gerstmann's impressions of it were absolutely glowing.

I've been playing the MP beta and the SP demo and the movement speed is spot-on imo.  They definitely fixed that gripe from my perspective.  Also no problems with the amount of motion blur.  I can't wait for next week!

Here are some more gameplay impressions from this week's GiantBombcast.  Pardon any errors in my transcription; I tend to filter out verbal pauses and random crosstalk for formatting purposes, but it's tough to do really accurately while the sound is running.

Quote from: GiantBombcast
Ryan: We could talk a little bit about Killzone, but we've got the Quick Look and....

Jeff: Killzone's awesome!  I haven't finished it yet, but in terms of first impression stuff from playing probably about an hour and a half, two hours of the campaign and messing around with bots -- as soon as we're done here, I'm actually going to go play multiplayer for review purposes -- it just *looks* so incredible!

Vinny: Drew was starry-eyed after coming out of that Quick Look room.  I was like, "How'd it go?"; he was like, "Man, that game just looks amazing!"

Brad: Does it look dramatically better or different from 2?

Ryan: It's faster!

Jeff: It's at least as good as 2, if not better, visually, and then on top of that everything moves faster and the controls are better and-

Brad: Is it smoother?

Jeff: -and it's pretty smooth, yeah.  It's...it is an impressive game!

Brad: Is your guy taller?

[random crosstalk]

Jeff: I don't know.  I'll have to go back and I'll keep an eye on that as I play more of it.

Ryan: You seemed taller because-

Brad: That really stood out to me in 2.

Ryan: -because there were those murderous melee attacks that you're kind of at eye-level with those dudes.

Jeff: Yeah, you are kind of at eye-level with those guys.

Brad: That's good.

Ryan: So you kinda have to be bigger.

Jeff: Yeah.

Ryan: Yeah, it seems like they're being smart about it.  From what I've seen, which is even less than what Jeff's seen because I just sat alongside on that Quick Look and talked to him some about it...this sounds like this is the game they've been trying to make.  I feel like Killzone 2 was great -- it had some caveats -- I feel like this may be them finally nailing it.  It looks very exciting.

Vinny: Still have the cover mechanic and, like, pop over the wall?

Jeff: Yeah, same deal.  It's the same as the "Duck" button with the way I have the controls configured.  So you can get behind cover and hit it and you'll get behind it.

Vinny: Does it feel snappy?  Because I remember Killzone 2 being kind of a little floaty or something.  Something a little mushy about it.

Jeff: No.  No, it's like a toggle, basically.  You hit the button about you're like, "Pop!" on the thing and then you're ducked behind it from there and you can push Up to shoot over.  Or just hit the Aim button to just pop up and aim.

Ryan: Would you say there's a little less, like, animation priority?

Jeff: Yeah, I think so.  That was kind of the complaint, whether people were calling it "input lag" or just, "They spent so much time making smooth animations and, goddammit, you're going to watch 'em!" or whatever it was.  This game feels very snappy with the way you play it.  It's pop-pop-pop: you're shooting guys, you're zooming in, you're zooming out, you're running...you know, it feels like other shooters in that way, without necessarily feeling like its ripping off other popular shooters.

Brad: Does that go for the aiming?  Because it was the weight of the weapons.  It was, like, how slowly you swung your gun around in the second one, it was like *the* thing...

Jeff: Yes, the aiming is faster.  The aiming is *significantly* faster.  Run speed is faster.  It's just like everything *moves* faster.

Ryan: As a spectator -- I'm sure it's different when you're actually playing -- but as a spectator, it seemed kind of overwhelming.  Like, the speed of the game-

Jeff: Game fucking moves!  It's-

Brad: Did they take it too far in the other direction?

Jeff: No, I think it feels great!

[...]

Jeff: I stuck my thumbs through a dude's glowing eyes!

Vinny: Oh no!

Jeff: Oh yeah, yeah.

Ryan: So the animation priority still exists in these kill animations-

Jeff: "Brutal melees," they call them, which is maybe a little ridiculous.

Ryan: Well, accurate.

Jeff: Accurate, though.  Yeah, though you kinda see similar animations again and again with that stuff from what I've played.

Ryan: You stick your thumbs through that dude's eyeballs!

Jeff: That one I've only seen once.

Brad: So what's in there?  What's behind those?

Ryan: Blood.

Brad: Are those goggles?  I mean, the glowing think is just some kind of eye mask, right?

Jeff: Yes.  So, basically when you get up close, it'll pop up and say "Hit R3" and you will basically just slit a dude's throat, or break his neck, or, they've got a bunch of different animations-

Ryan: Stab him through eyes....

Jeff: -that look pretty fantastic!  Though it has this side thing of, while you are doing that, you're getting shot.  So it isn't always the best move, from what I can tell.

Considering I buy most of my games from amazon anyway, $20 credit sounds good to me, it just goes straight towards Dragon Age 2 just two weeks later.

Kinda crazy though, DA2 is likely to provide way more hours of entertainment since I don't play many online shooters now, both cost roughly the same. I kinda feel alright when buying DLC for big RPGs from Bioware. Hate these stupid map packs for shooters though, way to fragment the online community.

IIRC they'll give you any perks they put up even if you already have pre-ordered.  I'm pretty sure I've ended up with one or two msytery credits because of them doing so.

I've only played about an hour but it seems to have a bit more soul than KZ2.  Absolutely no issues with controls any more.  MP doesn't work yet but I played a bot match and it was pretty fun.  There seems to be only couch co-op support, no online co-op?

I've only played about an hour but it seems to have a bit more soul than KZ2.  Absolutely no issues with controls any more.  MP doesn't work yet but I played a bot match and it was pretty fun.  There seems to be only couch co-op support, no online co-op?

How did you get a copy already?

People breaking street dates.  MP was enabled today (there was a small patch).  I think I'm about halfway done with SP.  It feels very much like a call of duty game now in terms of mission structure.  They have the stealth mission with Captain price, gunship on rails, snowmobile etc.  I'm enjoying it but I can't shake that MOTS feeling.

Amazon had already emailed me my code for 3 unlock points and the retro map-pack this morning.  Can't wait to check out the SP campaign (and maybe even some MP) when UPS delivers later!!
