OK, since I now have space for some proper playing I'm looking at getting either Dance Central 2 or Just Dance 3. has anyone played both of these on the Kinect? I'm looking for a comparison from someone who has played both so I can figure out which would be more entertaining.

Not the answer you are looking for but I can tell you Dance Central 2 is basically Rock Band but you are the plastic instrument. Like Rock Band's plastic instruments if you took the skills you learned and applied it for real, it just would not work.
If you are looking for a fun party dance game though its there. It also has a great teaching mechanic where you can easily slow things down or record yourself (at your own risk!) to make sure you are doing each move correctly - that is correctly on a huge scoring curve.
My major complaint about DC2 is that I know very few of the songs so its hard to get in to them. JD3 has a better selection of songs for my tastes - but I haven't tried the actual game.

I've got jd3 on the way as an xmas gift for my daughter. I got it as it seems to be more about fun and less about having exact dance steps. also, the dance songs are wider in variety than dc2 according to the reviews and the information I found online.

Damnit you guys, I already bought Dance Central 2 as a gift for my niece at Christmas, you're supposed to back up my decision!  I guess the Metacritic for DC2 is 86 compared to 70 for JD3, so I'm not going to feel too bad about my decision. Besides, I also got her some Marketplace points so she can download other songs as well. Yeah, that's the ticket. |

I was going to go with DC2 just because of my love for Rock Band, but after looking at the songs, my wife and I chose JD3. I'd still rather have DC2, but we felt like the songs were a little cleaner(at least the ones we had heard of) on Just Dance and that was a concern with our younger daughters. We'll see if we made the right decision in a couple of days.

My son got Just Dance for his birthday and he's been playing Dance Central for quite a while. The 2 biggest differences i can see are the difficulty and song choices. The easy dances on Just Dance can be ridiculous. But he seems to like the songs for Just Dance as well. Too early to tell, but i think he likes Just Dance better.
As an fyi, i "attempted" Baby one more time last night and couldn't get through the intro. This white boy has ZERO moves.
