Mario & Luigi RPG 2 (Nintendo, DS): 18669 (279,468)

The PSP may have recently outsold the DS in the hardware department (thanks to DS hardware shortages), but now Nintendo's machine is back on top. The Xbox 360 continues to struggle - is DOA4 out in Japan yet?

Hardware
DS: 64,515 (210,177, total since January 1st 2006)
PSP: 38,271 (228,714)
PS2: 26,271 (146,097)
GBASP: 7,912 (35,338)
GBM: 4,653 (22,813)
GC: 4,490 (23,378)
X360: 3,616 (17,200
GBA: 236 (1,033)
Xbox: 83 (358)

Since DS vs PSP seems to be the current battle over in Japan, I found an interesting little graph about their history....

Wow that's crazy.  So the xbox has sold 17,000 units of the 120,000 they were issued?  Talk about a flop oin Japan.  I remember conservative estimates were suggesting that they had a 40% selling rate  during the first few release days but here we are a month and a half later and that total isnt even close to 40%

That 17,000 is since the beginning of 2006, not since launch.  They sold about 40,000 the first week, as I recall.

I remember when I used to post this for the site on a weekly basis, and I had to keep myself from making cracks at how poorly the original Xbox was selling in Japan. Seems that time hasn't changed anything.
