The other day I booted this up trying to decide which RPG I was going to play/finish next. I loaded up my very old save from about 7.5 hours in, enjoyed the dialogue, combat, world, etc and quit in 20 minutes after I spent 5 of them looking at load screens. W.T.F. I dont remember it being that bad-anyways at all to speed this up?

Load times are pretty frequent in Jade Empire.  I played through a couple times and the load times aren't any worse than the KOTOR's for the XBox.

I enjoyed Jade Empire, although not the second coming; I felt it needed another year in the oven to be the game it needed to be.

To speed up load times, you could delete excess stuff off the HD, and maybe let it sit and run for a bit. I know some games will use idle time to start caching (Sea Dogs 2 errr Pirates of the Carribbean).

Or, fire the hamster in your xbox and get a sleek new hamster that has been soaking in anabolic steroids.)

The first load should be about 20-30 seconds, and the rest 10-15 or so.  It's about on par with KoTOR, but it seems to load a little more at the start, and less between areas once you've started.

Man... I still find myself surprised with all the Jade Empire hate.

Sure, it wasn't as great as so many claimed it to be initially, but I enjoy the game a lot.

Of course, I haven't touched it since I got DQ8.  slywink  That's the best console RPG this generation, IMO.

i've been playing through JE and enjoying it overall, but the load times have easily been the worst aspect of the game for me.  i'm playing it on my 360 and i would say most load times are at least 45-60 seconds...wasn't too annoying until i got to the imperial city.  now i find myself constantly running between areas of the city to complete quests, and the load times take longer than walking across an area.  i haven't played in a couple days after i lost about 30 minutes of progress, most of which was load times for multiple fedex quests...hard to get motivated to do it over again.  it was also aggravating to wait for a 60-second load every time i wanted to fight an arena battle...choose to fight, wait a minute for the load, have a 1-2 minute match, then wait another minute just to get back to the arena boss and repeat for the next round.  i'm usually pretty tolerant of load times, but it really is interfering with my enjoyment of JE at times.  i am curious to know if the game loads so slowly on an original xbox...

There is an overabundance of loading times on the X-Box as well, but nowhere near as bad as 45-60 seconds per load.  Wow.  That's really bad.

I think the load times were the aspects of KotOR and Jade Empire that really drove me batty.  I really love both games, but DESPISE load times, especially such frequent (and relatively long) ones.

Once you're in the game, no load time should be over 15 seconds, so perhaps it's a problem with backwards compatibility?

smile When I was playing JE and was getting bored waiting at load screens I decided I would do 10 pushups each time a loading screen came up... about a half hour later I decided there were way too many loading screens.

They were definitely faster than a minute, there were many times the games was ready just as I finished my set.

Thats just not accurate Eddie. I timed a couple at 30 seconds plus running on my original XBox.

I just got to the Imperial City, and the load times do seem longer there, which isn't surprising, given its complexity.  Previous area load times never seemed that long, but load times rarely bother me in a game.  The only exception was Crash : Wrath of Cortex, with its ridiculous 50+ second loads.

No, seriously.  Find a better RPG.

You'll probably have to leave the XBox in order to do this.

One of the big advantages of a modded xbox. With jade empire running off the hard drive, it loaded the levels so fast that I typically never had time to finish reading the comment/tip/history.

You get to play when you're at home sick?

VPN and cell phone access are a blessing and a curse. I'm home sick today, but I'm doing nearly as much work anyway...

I got through most of Jade Empire. The load times didn't bother me too much (but they were exessive) but what killed it for me was the worst combat system ever advised for a game let alone an rpg. Remind me of the horrible Bruce Lee game that was out for the Turbo Graphix many moons ago.

Im still holding out on working for Big Law or for a crappy local boutique firm because I cant convince myself I want to spend that much time actually practicing boring law, so right now my job is extremely low key and I dont think there is much I could do working from home smile
