I was thinking that the "New Xbox Experience" dashboard wasn't that long ago, but I guess it was 3 years ago in late 2008.  My how time flies.

I think their Kinect integration will have to be vastly improved before I will ever use it, since the voice recognition never worked well in my experience.  And more social integration can suck it.

The quick launch stuff sounds good, and as usual I just hope they improve the performance of me getting to the things I actually care about.

That previewed one looks pretty fugly. How long before they cover the entire screen with ads and you can only guess what game is in your drive or which friends are online. Wasn't/am not crazy about the NXE and this just looks bad already. I have a 37" tv use it more productively please.

I may be wrong when it arrives but it does nothing for me so far from what I've read here and other previews. Take the PS3 minimalistic approach more. Nice and clean for the most part.

The PS3 dash is a UI disaster.  Aping Sony in that area will only going to make the 360 worse.

save games probably, demos?  that makes no sense   For demos in the cloud to work it would have to be able to stream it from the cloud into memory like it does from either a HDD or DVD drive.

I really don't understand the way they went about this whole IPTV thing.  If you have to have the cable subscription to get access to all of that content, why wouldn't you just watch it on your cable box like normal? 

If they let me  get HBO Go on there without a cable subscription (even with a small premium on top of my Gold membership), then I might care.

ESPN 3 wasn't even available through XBL as a Time Warner subscriber, as they TWC required you to be botu an Net and TV subscriber, which they couldn't verify through the XBL interface.  One more reason I'm not upset about dropping my TV service with them.

HBO GO is a pretty impressive service, but it has had the major weakness so far of only being accessible through their website or a phone/tablet app.  They have a great selection of content (their entire catalog of original content, and a larger rotating selection of movies than OnDemand) but I haven't been watching it all that much because it means sitting in front of my desk or watching on my laptop.  The ability to stream HBO's content to my tv so that I can sit on my couch and watch is a major improvement that makes the service much more worthwhile for me.  Add that capability for other channels, and it only becomes better.

Major Nelson has all the channels listed coming for every country....looks like its not just the US this time with a load of channels,i am still gutted that the UK is not getting Manga Entertainment though

good to see a XBLG requirement is not needed for a lot of channels(BBC,CH4 and CH5 to name a few for UK),not that it matters too much for me because i am Gold anyway

and also good to see Lovefilm(UK equivalent of Netflix)coming to the UK 360 as well

must admit though there are a few channels coming to the UK that i have not heard of..'Crackle' and 'Blinkbox'

you wont need all those ID numbers on the back of your console this time,this time it does it by generating a 25 digit code for you,and then you entering that code into the redeem code area on the 360 like normal codes

this will download the registration app(i found it in 'recent games' in your game library when it downloaded -1mb),and you just sign on from there


it says it will take 2-3 days to take effect(says the Connect site,but the actual beta registration on the 360 says 1-2 days)

If you're in, you're in. When you can generate the key and put it on your console you should be able to participate. I think the key thing to remember is that this Beta isn't going to be for very long - I'm sure they want this out before xmas.

has anybody here got the preview channel on their dash and have been playing MW3 and getting a few disconnections during a game?

I have,and i put it down to my ISP,but it seems i am not the only one having a few problems

people on those private Xbox.com forums are saying its the preview channel,not sure how correct they are


its not every game where i lose connection,its more like 1 maybe 2 in 10 games
