Via GameSpot: Ubisoft today finally revealed that its anticipated game Assassin's Creed will be coming to the Xbox 360, as many had suspected. The announcement comes a day after the publisher admitted the game would be headed for the PC. The news settles one of the hottest topics in the gaming world this year, as debate over whether or not the game was sneaking onto the Xbox 360 in addition to the PlayStation 3 raged. Though initially announced at Microsoft's X05 event as Project Assassins in 2005, the game was first shown off as Assassin's Creed and revealed as a PlayStation 3 game at E3 2006--an Xbox 360 and PC version was not mentioned. -Autistic Angel

I guess this isn't much of a surprise at all. "Project Assassin" was first announced as a 360 title last year. Given the history of Ubi releasing their game on all the platforms available and the fact that this has been rumored for a long time lead me to believe it would happen anyway.

no surprise to see this "official" announcement now considering that MS had the game listed as an upcoming title for the 360 on their website around the time of E3...

It looks like an updated, better version of thief. If it makes senakeing more optional and more...intuitive, count me in ASAP!

From what I hear it's actually not as much like Thief as you may think since you aren't slinking around in the dark hiding from everybody. It's supposed to be more action oriented with combat and acrobatics similar to Prince of Persia. And when you are trying to lose the guards you have to try to blend in with the crowds or quickly escape to the rooftops.

If this is true then its exactly what I would have wanted a Thief game to be like. Excellent. Still, I am sure its a loong way off.

Holy crap! Check out this video of live gameplay of AC at the X06 conference! I was excited before, but this puts it pretty much at the top of my most anticipated games.

Meh. Looks pretty but I don't see anything revolutionary about the crowd ai that she touted. The demo showed people being pushed down with no repercussions.
Also, the guy just sneaks up behind the target kills him and the guards just stand there. They would have rushed him immediately.
Then, he climbs the wall, leaps away and is 40 paces ahead of everyone else almost instantaneously.
Meh.
