I'm doing this for myself, and anyone with a similar problem!  Scenario:  I have a date and time to remember (for the heck of it, let's say May 12th at 9:30 PM, EDT), I remember it all the way up to the point where I need it... and then: Oh, look!  The Red Sox are on... or the phone is ringing, or....

Post here, keep my email filled with notices that a new post has arrived, please.  Really, it's that bad!

I wonder if price will be talked about or if they are waiting till the Monday news conference for that.  It seems most major gaming sites will have info tonight on stuff, but I don't know if they'll have prices.

It doesn't seem to be shown in Canada, so I don't know why that listing is called "North America"

Oh well, bittorrent will fix that.

Also remember many websites will be having HUGE Xbox 360 blowouts tonight, like Team Xbox, IGN, Gamespot and 1UP.

Lots of info will be available tonight online.

ROFL

It just seems wrong to think of downloading an Xbox 2 presentation on what's usually considered a method of pirating programs and movies.

Note my bold, as I'm not implying anything.

XBOX reveal up against The Apprentice and CSI, all while I'm out of the house at a volleyball game, leaving my game-hating wife in charge... I'm guessing the 360 is not winning the DVRs attention tonight.

*Its released in the USA in less than six months
*Release games: Perfect Dark Zero, PGR3 and Kameo

*The Xbox Silver thingy is correct, it will be there, and free.
*You will be able to transfer stuff from an ipod.
*You will see TV thru your Xbox.

ChaoZ, it's probably for the same reason that they call the residents of the U. S. "Americans".  What was the term now?  Ethnocentrism - see, college is good for something after all! I'm glad it appears that you'll get it after all (but at 12:30 AM, wtf?)...

Hetz:  thanks for the info, i'm really starting to drool now...

Well, I'm going to set the VCR just in case I get hit by a meteor on the way back from yo-yo class. Maybe on two VCR's in case the power is affected by said meteor blast.  I should be in front of the TV (with laptop) in plenty of time, though - since the first thing I do when I come home is check my email.

Thanks everyone, c ya tonight! (Keep posting, I want a lot to read between the time I'll probably get home, sans meteor, and the time the MTV special starts!)

interesting rumor from gamespot forums from a guy at the MTV show

" they only showed us the basic model. they then showed video of the 360 hd edition. how ever i did pick up on one thing the guy givin us a speech had said, the xbox 360 can play xbox 1 games at a higher resolution. i believe he said 720 standard for older games played through the 360. but it was not quiet in that place. ever. even when the moments of revealing something new came, everyone just kept playing games, and talking about how they cant believe they are playing a game that looks like this"

/edit:
oh yeah, the link
http://forums.gamespot.com/gamespot/show_messages.php?board=909102864&topic=20890960&page=0

Some more info from the guy

- yes. they have a tivo function in the high model.
- yes the high model had a burner as well.
- it has one controller port in back for older controllers. but just one.
- es. i think many 360 games will set standards in graphics. hl2 is pretty. but i seen games that beat it.

Anyone have any idea what the logo button does on the centre of the controller? Does the numbering have anything to do with selecting a wireless controller setting/order?

I can read it... it's in Danish.  There's not much there that hasn't already been translated here other than a mention that the capacity of the system is so huge that it will take developers a long time to learn how to use all of the power it possesses.  It's also part of the reason that there won't be many games in the beginning.  If I see anything else that I don't see here, I'll post it.

edit:
Says that XBox live is fully integrated in the machine and whether you choose to go online, you have a 'gamer card' that stores all of your personal informationn -- the same 'gamer card' that will enable you to play online.

more edit:
There are two versions of XBox Live.  'Silver,' which allows you to download demos and new game content as well as videochat for free.  Then there is the 'Gold,' which is a subscription service, that allows you to play your games online in the manner that you are currently used to.

even more:
There's an included camera that allows for videochat... that's 'big news' according to this article.  Microsoft supposed that 50% of the people that purchase the XBox will go online through XBox live, and that at any given point in time, 8% of XBox owners will be online.

They also point out that the machine is a fully integrated part of watching tv.  If you watch DVDs through it, and you have your setting correct, then you will still receive invitations to play games while you are watching your movie, and you'll still get email from gaming friends.  You're also able to stream your digital photos over the connection to a friend that you're chatting with, and play for them your favorite songs from your iPod.

more:
The button in the middle, when pressed, will take you directly to the 'dashboard.'  At any point in time, you can press the button and it will immediately pause your game and take you to the Live dashboard.  Pressing it again returns you to your game, all without having to wait.

more:
There are no visible screws on the entire machine and the front plate can be changed to other styles, based on your mood...

The white and black buttons are still on the controller, but they've moved up to where the triggers are and function like two more triggers.

Sounds like they are definately doing a good job at delivering a highly technologically advanced machine. I hope that they can use to make more than just pretty games.

The features sound great too.

Shame I am only interested in Oblivion. Otherwise the launch sounds fairly standard. I'm still undecided, I don't just want graphically updated games from last gen that throw in one or two gameplay twists and gimmicks, but I also don't want overly simplified games that are really low on production values and high in gameplay. Next generation is going to be a cluster fluck for me, and I really think I will have to wait until Sony and Nintendo both announce their plans and have six months on the market

the Xbox 360 makes me think of Kip from Napolean Dynomite, " Yes I love Technology, but not as much as you you see, but I still love technology. Always and Forever, Always and Forever..."

Although I didn't have time to solve it before OurColony started its upgrade, this was the reward to the last challenge (had to take all rewards and make them mean something...didn't have time to finish it):

Xbox 360 unveiling video

Watch it...

Quote
3 processors

512MB RAM

Hard drive (evidentally part of the system...not add on)

face plate that can be removed and interchanged with others

You will be able to connect it to your home computer and share pictures, songs, etc. with the Xbox

You can watch a movie and still get Xbox Live messages

Liquid cooling system

etc.

The final OurColony answer was "pi"

11304/360 = 31.4 (move decimal one to the left)

Forgot to say...there is no price announced in the video.

I'll be adding comments to this post as the show gones one.

- Started 4 minutes early. Stupid MTV. Luckily I had it start early but a lot of others I imagine didn't
- Quickest history of videogames ever. Forgot someone .. oh yeah.... SONY
- The Xbox debut was ok. Still, if I ever get to run a game company putting out a console, I will NOT have MTV do it.
- Killer... I love the killers, and the segway music is probably a good choice of a sample but man, I feel like the group majorly sold out.
- Guess we will see Perfect Dark
- Need for speed most wanted looks good but nothing that rocks my world. I was hoping to see a new Links instead of Tiger Woods but I guess since MS sold their sports to Take two, that shouldn't be a surprise.
- Hey they turned the original xbox into a laptop. weee...
-Finally some meat. good look at protype design. Will make some screen captures of that.
- The face plate idea looks better than I thought it would.
- Pitching the selling of virtual stuff. blah.
- hmmm Perfect Dark snipets do look quite a bit like the leak images. I saw her run through a subway just like the "fake" image. Oh no, the multiplayer DOES look like counterstrike. That can't be good.
- Ah... gee.. What the heck happen to Perfect Dark Zero?  Looks horrible.
- Well its over. No mention of price, models or many other important details.

As I've been going back and forth between watching and reading the major sites (Team Xbox was the first one with it live btw).  From Gamespot we get news that date and price will NOT be said at E3.

However, they will talk about backwards compatibility at Monday's pre-E3 conference.

The price is currently guessed at (and I stress "guessed") $299-399
