This morning the operations manager suggested to my supervisor not to allow any more PTO hours because we are low on employees for Tuesday day. She also inquired about the high level of request and signed permission. My supervisor replied, because we all have to use them before October.  Sounded reasonable, right?
At lunch today it was a different story. Half these people, if not all, are taking PTO on Tuesday and some on Wednesday to play Halo 3.
The taught did not even cross my mind to take time off for this game. Mass Effect is a different story, but Halo 3.
Anyone else here taking, or find it necessary to be off for this particular release?
FYI this office has 300 employees.

Well, juniordian, I'm probably not going to get Halo 3 on day 1, so I won't be taking off a Halo day.  I'm with you though, juniordian, a day off for Mass Effect is tempting.

Took a day off for Halo 2.  Regretted and spent more time that day playing R&C: Up Your Arsenal.  Will not be taking time off for Halo 3.

I am, however, strongly considering it for Mass Effect.

I will be using floating holidays to take time off for mass effect.  Halo 3, I'm not gonna get to until at least a week after launch.

I tried to request Tuesday off but there were already 5 people in our department off that day....

I honestly have no idea if this has anything to do with Halo 3.  But this is the first time I have ever requested a day off and not been able to take it.

We don't have that many people who've requested the day off yet.  We'll be rocking out with some 4-player split screen in our movie theater.

My Mass Effect enthusiasm is starting to wane a bit in the face of my growing pile of games to play, as week after week I buy something new.  I don't know many games where I would take a day off for their release.  Well maybe Fallout 3 smile

I am taking Tuesday off... but I didn't really plan it that way. I have a dentist appointment and just decided to make a day of it.

Have not and will not take off to play any video game.  Just too many other more important things to do with my vacation time than that.
