I understand it'll be in stores next week, and have not heard a peep out of the GT crowd one way or another on this title.

Come on guys and gals...it's chock full o' Zombies!

I'm hoping for a demo before it gets released.  I hear it's pretty short so I want to try the gameplay before buying it.  If they don't release a demo I'll probably end up renting it.

I'm waiting for reviews and impressions to be certain of the fun factor and replayability (I don't mind short games if they're fairly replayable, and the achievement list seems to imply a fair bit of that), but I will likely pick it up soon after release.  I have a $20 coupon for Best Buy that expires soon, and at worst, I could trade the game in somewhere or sell it to get my $40 back if I don't like it.  biggrin

Ah, Dead Rising, a huge factor in purchasing my 360 biggrin

I preordered it the other day...got a neat "brochure" that's a map of the mall you roam around in.   It's pretty neat.

I'm looking forward to it.  It's certainly going to be a unique gaming experience biggrin

I'm waiting on reviews and the demo- while recent previews offer some hope, for about six months or so this title seemed to anticipated soley on the basis of "you get to kill hordes of zombies!" which is fine for a $20 game but won't cut it at $60.

Getting it on day one.  I usually tire of GTA style games, but I really, really hate the zombies, and getting to kill them with a scythe, lawnmower, or teddy bear sounds like more fun than capping homies and running down hos.

Plus, there's the photo element, which should make things even more amusing.  Really, all I'm looking for is free-form zombie killin', and I'm happy.

I'm partial to the idea of this being a sort of Beyond Good & Evil Dead set in a mall. I like a lot of what I've seen but like others I'm more anxious for the reviews to confirm whether it's worth the cash or not. Or in my case, worth a 360. If this is a must-buy, then that would be #1 out of the required 5 for me to buy a new system. smile

I'm a zombie-movie fanatic, and I have to say that the previews of this game were a definite factor in my interest in picking up a 360.  In all honesty, the odds of me picking this up are around the 95% range.  slywink  I just want to be sure there's no major technical issues or that the game has less to do than I think it does.  If it at least meets my reasonable expectations, I'm totally in.

Given that it's a Capcom game, I'm expecting I won't be disappointed.  With them, I rarely am.

Same as Tekken and Street Fighter; waiting a week or two for impressions to pile up on longevity and replayability.

I'm also going to wait for reviews and a demo, and even if those are good I'll wait a long while to get it.  Killing hordes of zombies over and over and over seems like it could only entertain me for so long, maybe $30 long.

I'm there with ya.  If it turns out to be a one trick pony I'll have to pass.  The lure of slaughtering zombies with lawn chairs and hockey sticks is appealing, but I can't justify the 60 bones if that is all it is.

Now, if they had an interesting multiplayer mode involving those zombies, with humans trying to survive, then that'd be interesting.  Something like RE Outbreak but easier to play.

I agree that beating up zombies for 72 hours and nothing else is not worth $60, but I have it preordered.  One of my favorite movies is Dawn of the Dead.  A weakness, what can I say?

I'm all for wasting zombies in creative ways, but unless there's some more depth to the game I don't know if I'll spend $60 on it.  Looks fun though!

Absolutely. Consider Dead Rising the first must-own game for the 360 in my book. Four more to go. biggrin

That video had some fantastic stuff.   If the rest of the game is half as amusing as a zombie spinning on an excevator, I'll be one happy camper.

Having to complete the game multiple times just to open up a non-timed is shitty.  My first couple hours playing a game like this would be just wandering around exploring and experimenting before I started on the story missions.

count me in with this group.  i really need to see some proof that there's a little more than just killing zombies that seem to be everywhere.  i'm sure it's fun for a little while, but what happens when you've seen most of the crazy weapons and the novelty starts to wear off?

See, that's a good time, to me at least.  The GTA-esque games always wind up being "run around and cause mayhem" in my house.  Doing it with zombies and amusing weapons should be just about perfect.

Also, as awesome as the spinning zombie of death was, I also liked the umbrella bulldozer.  That's two creative uses for weapons in one location.  I'm liking the chances of there being more of those throughout the mall.

From EGM:
Dead Rising - 7.5, 7.0, 8.0

May be going back to rental and demo... I also dont like how you cant unlock the untimed mode without beating the game multiple times.  It is a cheap way of adding replay value to a game.

Oh, I thought everyone realized you only had 72 hours to play at a time.  However, from what I hear, there are so many things going on at the mall, that when you play again, there are plenty of missions to do that you will have missed, so the game won't be the same when you play it again.

there was also an interview with one of the developers in which they mentioned that the time limits are loosened on later playthroughs.  you only have 72 hours the first time through, but you get more time after you've beaten it...survive to the end a few times and the time limit is eventually removed completely.

Come on people, embrace this new style of gameplay!  They could have done the same 'ol, same 'ol tried & true, but decided to mess with the formula a little bit.

I give it thumbs up, I'm all for innovation.
