I understand it'll be in stores next week, and have not heard a peep out of the GT crowd one way or another on this title.
Come on guys and gals...it's chock full o' Zombies!

I'm hoping for a demo before it gets released. I hear it's pretty short so I want to try the gameplay before buying it. If they don't release a demo I'll probably end up renting it.

I'm waiting for reviews and impressions to be certain of the fun factor and replayability (I don't mind short games if they're fairly replayable, and the achievement list seems to imply a fair bit of that), but I will likely pick it up soon after release. I have a $20 coupon for Best Buy that expires soon, and at worst, I could trade the game in somewhere or sell it to get my $40 back if I don't like it.

Ah, Dead Rising, a huge factor in purchasing my 360 I preordered it the other day...got a neat "brochure" that's a map of the mall you roam around in. It's pretty neat. I'm looking forward to it. It's certainly going to be a unique gaming experience

I'm waiting on reviews and the demo- while recent previews offer some hope, for about six months or so this title seemed to anticipated soley on the basis of "you get to kill hordes of zombies!" which is fine for a $20 game but won't cut it at $60.

Getting it on day one. I usually tire of GTA style games, but I really, really hate the zombies, and getting to kill them with a scythe, lawnmower, or teddy bear sounds like more fun than capping homies and running down hos.
Plus, there's the photo element, which should make things even more amusing. Really, all I'm looking for is free-form zombie killin', and I'm happy.

I'm partial to the idea of this being a sort of Beyond Good & Evil Dead set in a mall. I like a lot of what I've seen but like others I'm more anxious for the reviews to confirm whether it's worth the cash or not. Or in my case, worth a 360. If this is a must-buy, then that would be #1 out of the required 5 for me to buy a new system.

I'm a zombie-movie fanatic, and I have to say that the previews of this game were a definite factor in my interest in picking up a 360. In all honesty, the odds of me picking this up are around the 95% range. I just want to be sure there's no major technical issues or that the game has less to do than I think it does. If it at least meets my reasonable expectations, I'm totally in. Given that it's a Capcom game, I'm expecting I won't be disappointed. With them, I rarely am.

Same as Tekken and Street Fighter; waiting a week or two for impressions to pile up on longevity and replayability.

I'm also going to wait for reviews and a demo, and even if those are good I'll wait a long while to get it. Killing hordes of zombies over and over and over seems like it could only entertain me for so long, maybe $30 long.

The lure of slaughtering zombies with lawn chairs and hockey sticks is appealing, but I can't justify the 60 bones if that is all it is.

Now, if they had an interesting multiplayer mode involving those zombies, with humans trying to survive, then that'd be interesting. Something like RE Outbreak but easier to play.

I agree that beating up zombies for 72 hours and nothing else is not worth $60, but I have it preordered. One of my favorite movies is Dawn of the Dead. A weakness, what can I say?

I'm all for wasting zombies in creative ways, but unless there's some more depth to the game I don't know if I'll spend $60 on it. Looks fun though!

That video had some fantastic stuff. If the rest of the game is half as amusing as a zombie spinning on an excevator, I'll be one happy camper.

Having to complete the game multiple times just to open up a non-timed is shitty. My first couple hours playing a game like this would be just wandering around exploring and experimenting before I started on the story missions.

See, that's a good time, to me at least. The GTA-esque games always wind up being "run around and cause mayhem" in my house. Doing it with zombies and amusing weapons should be just about perfect. Also, as awesome as the spinning zombie of death was, I also liked the umbrella bulldozer. That's two creative uses for weapons in one location. I'm liking the chances of there being more of those throughout the mall.

From EGM: Dead Rising - 7.5, 7.0, 8.0
May be going back to rental and demo... I also dont like how you cant unlock the untimed mode without beating the game multiple times. It is a cheap way of adding replay value to a game.

Come on people, embrace this new style of gameplay! They could have done the same 'ol, same 'ol tried & true, but decided to mess with the formula a little bit.
I give it thumbs up, I'm all for innovation.
