My buddy and me are looking for a good FPS that lets you play the single player but as a coop with your friend helping you. Just like back in the old duke nukem/doom days. It seems this type of play has been forgotten so I'm hoping someone knows of one because I haven't had any luck lately..

TIA

Doesn't SWAT 4 offer good coop?

I think Serious Sam will do the best at capturing that "good old days" feeling you seem to be searching for.

Yes Swat 4 does fun stuff. Brothers in Arms: Earned in blood does as well.

You can play FarCry coop with a mod.  It is the entire single player game.

NOLF 2 has some special co-op missions.  A few of them are quite good.

FarCry co-op would rock.

I have a Pentium D 820 2.8 Dual core with 1mb ram and a  256mb PCI express geforce 6800 and the Serious Sam 2 jitters sooo bad its unplayable. I even tried to turn the setting down and its still unplayable.

Swat 4 is a good game but I'm having issues not being able to just go in and shoot al the bad guys so I'll have to pass on that one..

I'm downloading the far cry demo right now so we'll see how that plays on my system. I played call of duty 2 and it runs great on my system so it must just be something with serious sam..

NOLF 2 looks good but I am assuming you can only play a few maps coop?

Ouch.. how does your computer even boot up let alone play any games?

Battlefield 1942 has COOP but it's pretty much just playing humans vs bots or a mixture of the both. (Although they still call it "COOP")
There's one other game that wasn't mentioned yet but I can't put a name on it.. remember playing it a while back, just can't remember the name. Will post it later on if I figure it out.

That's a great choice, and that will run on just about any computer that has even remotely recent hardware in it.
