So, as stated by our site both here and here, it seems that Interplay may or not be closed for good, depending if you believe the company's CEO or the fact that the government themselves has closed down the company because they aren't paying their employees.

Personally, I'll be sad to see them go. So many classics they've published over the decades, from the birth of PC gaming all through current console titles.

I'm upset that I won't see Fallout 3 anymore though...

Thoughts?

I suppose it all depends on your definition of "gone". The broken shell may still exist, but the yolk has been sucked out dry.

Well, there is always hope.  After Looking Glass closed I never expected to see Thief again....yet, my review for Thief: Deadly Shadows goes up tomorrow. smile

This has been coming for years. Companies in this industry come and go like the changing of the tide. Interplay has been a hollow shell of itself for a long time - I can't remember the last game I played with an interplay logo on the box.

But does this mean that Secret of Vulcan Fury is never coming out? frown

The best bet we'd have is for the right companies to acquire the right licenses. Volition Inc. has really been looking forward to purchasing the rights to Freespace. If Bioware(unlikely), Troika, Obsidian, or InExile were to buy the Fallout license, then we'd even have a good chance of seeing a new Fallout title.

As for Thief 3, I'm still depressed that the team responsible for the title was let go. It's like the Looking Glass incident all over again, by yours truly, EidosPS2.

I think Stategy First picked up the Fallout lisence and announced two new Fallout games, Fallout 3 & Fallout 3D.  There is a post about it on GoneGold here.

Jagged Alliance and Disciples, you mean. smile

Yeah, I fear for Disciples, and am not too thrilled about the change in developers, but I'll keep my reservations to myself. Who knows? They might surprise everyone.

In a positive way.

Hopefully.

My god, I can't believe how confused I was/am.

I don't even know what game we were originally talking about now I am so backwards...  They all seem like the same thing these days, nostaligic bits of joy!
