confused why they would want to do this.  doesn't the name have more recognition than the new ones.  are they going to do this to their other studios? 

btw, wasn't the 2k brand more tied to sports games?  irrational isn't a sports games developer.

It's a corporate decision to try and promote the 2K name over individual studios.  That's kind of obvious, but I'm just stating it to present the corporate way of thinking.  Irrational has a lot of cred in the gaming community.  However, Bioshock is big enough that it's known as its own game, not just Irrational's next quirky game.  Thus, to promote the 2k brand, rename the studio so that more gamers see associate the 2k name with more kinds of good gaming experiences.

Regardless, I'll follow Ken Levine and the staff more than the studio.

A forward-thinking game publisher will cling to the concept that marketing 7 years ago is extremely forward-thinking.

(or, my favorite, "Air pollution will be so bad that the phrase "Who farted?" will be said with a smile.")

Almost got happy there..

First they screwed up Tribes Veangenace by not including bots (despite the requests and their eventual "We guarentee there will be bots available - by a third party anyway) and then doing the same shit with the new SWAT - despite the fact that BOTH of the originals had multiplayer bots. (yeah I'm a bit of a bot fanatic)

Just me personally but their irrational's irrational belief that games don't need bots is enough to keep me from buying any of their games and thus, their name means nothing to me except some extra saved money.

SWAT 4 was actually a pretty decent game, even without bots.  I got alot of multiplayer play time out of it.  I never did get the expansion pack though.

Holy crap, I just found out that the apartment I just moved out of is apparently less than a quarter mile away from their studios.  Are you telling me that I could've been getting friendly with the devs so I can score sneak peaks this whole time, and nobody told me?
