So the big announcement that Sony hinted at involving InFamous and Uncharted 2 was leaked by Best Buy advertising. Turns out that InFamous will include access to the multiplayer beta for Uncharted 2. Word has already been leaked that Uncharted 2 will include both versus and co-op gaming. However the co-op is through a separate campaign.
As someone who thinks that Uncharted 1's gunplay was pretty good, I can see multiplayer being pretty fun, but the co-op is where it's at. Since the co-op is separate from the single player campaign, there's no worry about it affecting the single player campaign's story.

Oooooh, co-op could be fuuuuuuun...
Especially if there's some sort of XP/leveling system. I KNOW, that's so "trendy" right now, but it would give a reason to go through co-op multiple times.
Give me as epic of a story as the first Uncharted, with fun co-op and you got GOTY. I couldn't care less about versus co-op...

Much as I would love beta access to Uncharted 2, I'm not about to buy InFamous for it. Everything I've seen so far of that game has looked boring as hell to me.

Using microsofts crackdown trick i see. If infamous gets good enough reviews i will buy it but i'm not sold on either that or prototype yet. Uncharted 2 however already pre ordered, first was amazing just hope they wont focus more on the multiplayer than singleplayer... I'm a singleplayer guy mostly.

Yeah, it's just as shady as the crackdown trick, but it's a good move. Infamous has a lot of things in common with Uncharted from what I've seen, although obviously not too similar, they share a pedigree and style of characterization and production values that could appeal to people who liked Uncharted.
As I said above, co-op is separate from the single player campaign. Heck, there's a video of Nate going it alone during a GDC demonstration. What I'm wondering about is co-op acrobatic moves to traverse the levels, it'd be like trapeze work.

You can never be really sure of that, maybe they just didnt have a co op partner in that video because they didn't want to show it yet, kind of like they did with RE5.

Well, I've been debating on grabbing this game anyway (my PS3 desperately needs a new game - or for that matter, turned on in the first place), so it sounds like an entertaining bonus.

I just hope getting a platinum trophy in Uncharted 2 isn't going to require multiplayer shenanigans. I always hate it when games that are primarily singleplayer force you to jump online just to get some obscure (Kill a Rock Star in GTA4) and often ridiculous (10,000 kills in Resistance 2) trophy.

Take it or leave it in terms of the competitive online play...
But 2-3 player co-op could be fantastic.

I actually understand Gator's concerns. However, I actually think Uncharted's gameplay really can support multiplayer and co-op.
First, the combat in the first game was pretty good. It was interesting and fun to simply shoot and watch enemies react. Part of that fun was how all the animations added to it, but on top of that it was a very solid shooter for those that liked that style. The cover mechanic was pretty standard and worked well enough. This could compete with GoW2 multiplayer if done right.
The platforming sections were okay, too linear, too simple but it looks like they improved on those aspects for the SP game. But they've also included the ability to shoot while platforming. In co-op, it's described to be similar to left 4 dead with an AI director along with scripted events. As you go about the co-op level you fight enemies as normal, but if you take too long to progress, such as taking too long to figure out a co-op puzzle or failing a platforming segment, the AI will spawn a new wave of enemies to fight.
Also in co-op there's the standard picking someone up when they get downed, but you can do various co-op moves like grabbing an enemy and holding him while a teammate decks him, but enemies can do that to you so a teammate will need to come and free you.
From what I hear the AI is much better too.

Someone made a comparison to the MP trailer looking Gears of Wars-ish and yeah, I get that vibe. Hiding behind cover, third person, etc. Unfortunately, I didn't particularly care for GoW MP, so it'll probably be true here, too.
Although, it WILL have a party system...and that's hot.

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2009/04/28/uncharted-2-more-multiplayer-details/Some extra news from that video: Sully and Elena make an appearance in multiplayer as skins. However, it's specifically mentioned that they also appear in co-op. Since co-op has a story tied to the single player campaign, we can assume that they'll play some role in Uncharted 2's single player. Nate, after all, owes Elena a story. Much like resistance, playing through the game's various modes earns you cash, which is a meta-game thing where you can buy boosts (basically CoD4 perks) for multiplayer, along with weapon upgrades in co-op. I forget if any of that applies to single player though. In previous interviews they mention more difficulty settings, even settings that make the combat even easier for more casual players (the combat could be very brutal to those not used to shooters) which means you could potentially play co-op with a significant other who isn't as good as games but like Uncharted for the story.
