How is this game? http://www.darwinia.co.uk/

It just got released over steam and people are seeming to LOVE it right now. Any comments?

Just started playing it but I find it to very fun.  Very creative and it is like the y made Tron into a RTS game with a little Populous thrown in for good measure.

Played the demo and found it pretty retro cool.  Gameplay had a fun feel by playing with the new buildings and such.

I'm going to stay off the bandwagon on this one.  I gave the demo a try for about 1-2 hours and quit from boredom.  I'm young, but I still remember playing games on the Commodore 64 and Amiga, so the retro style isn't necessarily a factor.  I guess I like some story with my games (the genre of which sets my expectation level) or at least some motivation (like loot in action RPG's), but I found neither of these in my demo play, at least to any satisfying degree.

Tried the demo (OMG!  A game available for Mac!) and had a blast with it.  $29 sounds a bit steep for registration, though.  Anybody have the game and can give me an idea of how much more there is (in length and gameply) past the demo? (Demo lets you finish the second level, "Containment," and teases you with "Mine," "Generator," and... whatever the third one in that series is.  smile

Using those Squad programs is like playing the old game Cannon Fodder, except less fun.

Although I did find it quite fun to use officers to send my hapless Darwinians forward to fight the evil red army.
