Had it preloaded from Fileplanet and game looks good sofar just at the opening sequence. Running good on a amd xp 3800 (not dual core) 2 gigs ram and a 7900gs at 1024 x 768 with almost everything maxed but havent run into any firefights yet. Graphics as sweet!

IGN likey... 9.7 rating.

I'm not reading the review, though.  I'm in blackout mode, and just hear that it's good.

Grabbed it, played it with everything maxed at 1440x900.  Ran as smooth as butter beyond some slight stuttering when the Bioshock logo appears at the beginning.  and I'm not using those 'beta' drivers.
* CeeKay sniffs in disdain

Looks like you'll have to force AA via the nVidia Control panel, and even then it makes little difference other than affecting your FPS (according to TweakGuides).  I have no clue what 'global lighting' does, so I left it on.  The mouse/Keyboard combo works extremely well in the demo- headshots count in this game so ammo was not an issue for me.  The water looks purty too.

I was trying to find the video that compares the DX10 effects but I can't find it.

Hey Ck, do you know if the demo is the beginning of the game pretty much exactly? and is it identical on 360?

It's identical with the 360 demo, which they've said they altered a little to show off stuff.

But if I played it, and then for instance went straigtht to playing the real game, would it spoil stuff form later on, or make it wierd to start the game over? I am still trying to figure out ways to tell which version I want without messing up the experience.

the demo taks about 10 minutes to go through, so it's not like you'd be taking a big chunk of time replaying portions, and I didn't see anything that seemed to be a spoiler for things to come.  You only get access to 2 plasmids and 3 weapons, and there are only a few enemy types that look like they are going to be pretty common.  I honestly don't think playing the demo is going to screw up the experience anymore than watching the trailer to any given movie.

Thanks bro, I just had convinced myself I wasn't going to play it at all or watch any videos at all (only ever seen two shorties) until I got to play the full thing cause I didnt want to spoil anything. You getting it for the new PC, right?

I think that it would be great that if a game saw that your specs weren't up to par, that it actually did laugh at you...

I played only a little bit of the demo last night, just to look at the graphics. Ran fine with everything turned up and 1680 X 1050 resolution.
Specs: Intel Core 2 Duo 6600, 4GB Ram, 8800 GTX, Vista, old Nvidia drivers

Ran the demo on my rig this morning and I got acceptable frame-rate at 1600X1050.   I'm running

Amd 4200+ Dual Core
7600GT
1 gig RAM

I only played up til I got the first plasmid and fought the two splicers.  I think I'm going to pick up the 360 version as I like the idea of playing on my HDTV

I did have to update my drivers to the 7/29/07 drivers.  Don't like to use beta drivers.  Again, my frame rate was acceptable

I remember UT2004 would go 'Holy Shit!' if you set the game settings to max.
