http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/368238381/worlds-of-wander-plus-secret-spaceship-club-game

30 hours to go and they only have $46k out of the requested $400k.

I can't put my finger on why this one didn't take ground at all.  Tom Hall has quite the pedigree (Commander Keen, Wolfenstein 3D, DOOM, Rise of the Triad, Anachronox) and I would have thought there'd be a pretty decent nostalgia factor out there for the Commander Keen series.

I think a lack of publicity was a major factor.  I only heard about the kickstarter through a Wil Wheaton tweet, but I haven't heard a peep about it through any other source.  Has anyone here heard of this from anywhere other than this thread?

Nope, this is the first I hear about it. I almost feel bad for Tom Hall considering this is likely going to be his second failed Kickstarter. Then I remember that his first Kickstarter, Shaker, failed because of horrible communication, lack of a clear vision, and inability to understand what a Kickstarter campaign needs to succeed. How could he launch a second Kickstarter without getting any media attention? You'd think journalists would be all over this story.

What was Shaker trying to be?  I hadn't heard about that one.

A Wizardry-styled game... I think. It was impossible to figure it out at the time. The creators threw out a few snippets of contradictory gameplay information, and when people screamed for more info, they were given a huge and even more contradictory background story instead. It was incredibly frustrating, and probably the worst example of a mismanaged Kickstarter I've seen from a reasonably known name in the industry. They simply didn't understand even the most basic of wishes the backers had, which made me highly skeptical that these people would be able to create a fun game. I mean, if they don't understand players, how can we expect them to be able to provide something we'll like?

First Iíve heard of it.  I watched the video and it really didnít do much for me though, I can see why it didnít turn out well.  The presentation itself seemed fine but the game had no personality. To get my kickstarter money you either need to be making something I canít get elsewhere or have a completely charming concept.

I've heard about it some other places:  Joystiq, PC Gamer and Ain't It Cool News are just a few that come to mind.

I had all the Keen games, but I'm not too keen about revisiting them so I kinda shrugged and moved on.

Looks like it is more of a game builder than a Commander Keen thing, even though he's using to create a "spiritual successor". And the graphics don't do it any favors.

Too bad, but again, it's the first I've heard of it, and he's only had 3 updates during the campaign. The ones that suceed have both regular communication and get press up front.
