Soo...I've been thinking about getting an Xbox and have a few questions
There's around 2 trilliion different models, and different kind of memberships, what can you guys recommend? I assume a harddisk would be nice to have, i.e. not the arcade model?
Also, what games would you recommend as Must-haves? I love games like Fallout, Battlefield, baldurs gate style rpgs and so on...
oh, and I lke long walks on the beach ,and holding hands... ;-)

The funny thing is, if you do a search for "How to tell if it's a Jasper" (the topic title), nothing comes up. Great little search function we've got on these forums  Of course SL going around saying "Canuck" and "Jasper" in all of these different posts doesn't make it easier to look for those key words either!  |

The only 2 models you really want to consider are the Pro (60gb HD) and Elite (120gb HD). Which model you get depends on how much you plan to download. If you plan to continually download Rock Band or Guitar Hero content, original Xbox games or rip many games to the HD, you'll want the Elite. I'm personally making do with a 20gb Pro and couldn't possibly imagine needing anything bigger than 60gb's, but that's more to do with the type of gamer I am.
Ther really isn't an RPG on the scale of Baldur's Gate, but IMO Oblivion, Fallout 3 and Fable II are all outstanding RPG's worth every penny you pay for them.

What a goofy thread - a highly amusing goofy thread, lmao. Fiddler on the Roof with CeeKay humping lions?  As for Baldur's Gate type games, there are two possibilities, one is "Dungeons and Dragons: Heroes" (I'm almost certain it is on the XBox backwards compatible list) - and the other is "Sacred 2" coming mid-May for the 360. It looks a bit like Baldur's Gate meets Morrowind, and has a May 12th release date if it doesn't get delayed (again.) Also, when I had to rearrange my 360s parts, both being launch units with one console starting to fail, and the other HD getting quirky, I found a special on Amazon. Buy the Arcade unit, you get half price on a 60GB HD. I got the impression that it wasn't a first-tiime offer, so Amazon may be worth checking out. |

I need to check out prices, both locally in stores, but also online. The version with Fable 2 and Halo does sound interesting though. Always wanted to see what all the fuss was about with Halo

Ooh, I forgot that Sacred 2 was already out for the PC - my laptop is purely an email/ GT/ video game search machine, lol. Let me know if you get something that doesn't come with Halo 1. Someone left a copy at my house - disc only - and we haven't been able to figure out whose it is. You are entirely welcome to it, so consider that in your deciding on which package to get.  |

The Jasper has 45nm CPU and GPU dies, which means less heat, which means less opportunity for the solder joins to go bad (IIRC, the primary reason for the RRODs). And lower power consumption as well. |
