Production has begun on DOOM 4™, the next journey into the legendary DOOM universe. We are expanding our internal team and are currently hiring to work on this highly anticipated title. http://ve3d.ign.com/articles/news/38504/Doom-4-AnnouncedYou can read the rest and find links to the hiring pages on that link there. I hope they do away with the monster closets and blackness. Bring back CO-OP multiplayer!

The only game where black was considered a color. Hopefully monsters will actually be on a level instead of spawning somewhere nearby all the damned time.

Hey...now that Ubisoft has exclusive rights to the Tom Clancy name, maybe id could cut a deal to get Sam Fisher in the game similar to how Yoda and Darth Vader will be in the next SC4. With Sam in the game we could turn on night vision anytime we wanted. I'm just not sure how well grab-them-by-the-neck stealth kills would work on demons.

I never played Doom 3. I guess I will eventually.
Though since the setting is pretty much a reboot of the 1st Doom, will Doom 4 actually be Doom 2 rebooted? There's a lot they could do with the Hell on Earth setting.

ed - forgot to mention flashlights. Dark games need flashlights. I didn't even get to find out if it needed flashlights... The screen was all black when I started it up, so I returned it.

I still haven't finished the Doom 3 yet. It's on backlog list... I guess it's time to search for flashlight mod again

LOL. Their directions say 10 minutes east of Dallas. Uh huh. Try 30 at best unless you're living in downtown. That being said, I am apparently SOL as I'm not a designer nor an artist.

Played and finished Doom 3 twice. I didn't find it unduly dark as that seemed consistent with the setting and the mood; besides there was a flashlight mod for those who wanted it.
What disappointed me was realizing how a lot of creative and talented work went into a game that was supposed to be a AAA production but came out as stale and derivative. 10 - 15 years ago, monsters appearing out of nowhere and darkness substituting for dramatic tension, well...back then it would've worked and seemed novel. Now, despite all the graphical advances, the game felt old.
It was just banal. Like watching a Sci-Fi channel movie.

My biggest complaint..besides the darkness...was here i was on a base full of scientists and marines and in 10 seconds everyone but me disappears. Wasn't right.

Good point, although it wasn't a big deal to me at the time, it would've been more logical storywise - and I think more fun - had we had encounters with other (soon-to-be-dead) surviving characters. After all, the takeover was going on right then and there: we weren't investigating a long lost station.

It felt like an honest war with tons of other soldiers around you fighting, for at least the first half of the game. If DOOM 4 comes out and it feels more like Aliens in that regard, i.e. squads fighting demons and you can intermingle with as many as you want/need, that would be awesome. Another glorified "Alone in the Dark" with rockets is not what I'm anxious for.
