And, dare I hope? I want it suitable for a 6 year old. Since I'm dreaming, I might as well dream big.
Yesterday morning before work my six year old asked me, "What is that icon that says DragonQuest Trailer?" So I fired it up. He and my 4 year old were glued to the monitor. The graphics, the music, the characters, wow.
Since then we've watched the trailer at least 10 times and I've read all the previews I can find. I don't want to have to wait 2 months. I want it now. If I can't have that, at least I want it to be as good as the trailer promises it to be. Now really, is that too much to ask?

Gamestop has 11/22, but SquareEnix hasn't said anything more specific than "November". As for being appropriate for a 6-year old, I'm not sure. It is rated Teen, and the female character has "sex appeal" skills that, at least from what I've read about the Japanese version, can get pretty suggestive. The violence is presumably pretty cartoony, although some of the cutscenes may be somewhat intense.

Apparently, Jessica has a skill in the game called 'Sex Appeal.' At least, that's what it is translated from Japanese, I'm sure it'll be localized to something tamer. And this is the best I could find in terms of her tits, unbreakable: I couldn't find any forum-appropriate out-of-game art depiciting definitive knockers. If you're into hentai, though... :?

Dont hurt me, but I've never played a Dragon Quest game before. This will most likely get me beaten and shunned but... you're not missing much Beaten and shunned are too good for you. But you're a fan of FFX, so there you have it. I like the Dragon Warriors for their relative lightheartedness and charm. I still smile when I think about the old man in DW VII: "Ah...smoking." However, since you said: That being said, I'm intrigued enough by DQ8 that I'll probably give it a shot.
I guess beating and shunning will do for you...for now.

EDIT: Rage is faster. I don't care if Rage is faster, I understood you first The reason I went with a red slime over a metal slime is that I was hoping to avoid charges of assault with a deadly weapon. King Metal Slimes hurt the most for those at home keeping score, but that's a deadly weapon. Red slimes are the inch thick leather belts your granpappy used to whoop your Dad with. Didn't want to try to kill the youngster, just wanted to put the fear of the strap in him and set the young man right. Red Slimes are tougher, but I doubt they ever killled a man.

"He's coming for you." In the US version of DQ8, the red slimes are now called she-slimes, so apparently they're female. I have no idea how they check for gender with slimes, though

Apparently, they're changing a lot of the names, especially the spells. Some of them are pretty silly, too, such as "Pop" to leave a dungeon (previously Outside) and "Woosh" as a wind spell (previously Infernos). I don't really mind them changing the names, but you'd think they could have come up with some better ones than that.

I've seen the trailer for this at gamestop and it looks really neat. It has sort of a cartoonish yet 3d look about it with some real pretty backgrounds.

According to a thread at GameFAQs, the English demo is available now. People have mentioned finding it at Fry's, Shopko, and for pre-ordering at Gamestop. I'm going to preorder a copy at Gamestop tomorrow and hope I get a demo disc.

I've listened to some of the game's soundtrack, and from what I've heard, it sounds just like what you'd expect to hear in Dragon Warrior.
And along the same note, the title theme to the old DWs as well as the castle theme are two of my favorite soundtracks of the old-school age.

I was wondering . . . could someone possibly pick me up a demo disk and send it my way? I would get it myself, but I'm seriously MILES AND MILES away from any sort of decent store.
I would pay shipping through PayPal!
