I mean, the Doom 3 engine is the PERFECT engine for an Aliens/Aliens vs. Predator game! Why hasn't anyone done, or announced one?

Well they are making another AvP game I think, or at least I think I read that, so chances are it will be with a new next gen engine smile

Good call!  It'd make much more sense to do a darkened, space station crawl where things jump out at you using the Aliens franchise.  Whereas Doom 3 made it unfun, walking aroudn a dark station with a headmounted flashlight and a motion sensor beeping would be very cool.

I'm still lobbying for System Shock 3 using the Doom 3 engine.  BTW, have any games (other than Quake 4) been licensed to use the D3 engine?

Somebody was going to do a straight mod conversion of SS2 to Doom3, but it got killed by whoever owns the SS license (EA?)

I'd rather have them use the Unreal 3 engine, it looks like it'll handle a bit more than the Doom 3 engine at a better framerate.

One of the reasons why Irrational is making Bioshock instead of SS3 is that the SS license is held by a publisher.  I think this time around they'll try to keep the IP as their own.

Another engine to look at is the one for FEAR.  Monolith already made one really good AVP game.  However wasn't AvP3 being made by someone else?

How do you know what framerate you'll get using an engine that has no released products?
