I was all happy with my decision that I wasn't going to bother getting a 360 until sometime after xmas.

Then Best Buy sent me an offer to pre-order one today  - plus they offered double reward zone points on the bundles.

And i'm like - oh - an extra controller that sounds nifty. Oh recharge kit - i'll need that.

So now I've got the 360, charger, extra controller and Madden NFL and Project Gotham Racing heading my way. And I don't even like sports games.

Wife is soooo going to kill me when that bill comes.

It's amazing how a person's resolve wavers the closer the release date gets. Same thing happened with me during PSP's launch. Originally I was going to wait. 1 week before launch, something snapped, and I just HAD to have one. Haven't regretted it since.

I knew for a fact that the same thing'd happen with X360, so I just resigned to the fact, and pre-ordered early to avoid that frantic rush 2 days before d-day.

My resolve has only strengthened... though I think it has more to do with Oblivion being delayed til next year than anything else.  That really made me realize I don't want a 360 at all.

Very true. I had decided not to get a PSP for a few months till the better games came out.

Then a few unexpected bonuses came in the same week the PSP was released....

Until they get some games that I'm actually interested in, fighting the 360 temptation will be pretty easy.  Once that killer-app hits, it may be a different story, but I haven't seen anything yet that screams 'MUST HAVE' for me.

Oh man, Purge....

I'm sorry.

The train that had me being a "moral compass" left many, many years ago.

I think it was about the same time that I discovered UUencoded files on usenet.  :-)

OXM has me starting to crave a 360...I'm still miles away from getting one, but some of the coverage of the various titles that are expected is begining to pique my curiosity.

That said, I've been swooping in on ebay and buying some XBOX games really cheap to round out my collection before they get scarce.

I've picked up: NBA ST V3, SSX 3, BIA: Hill 30, and KUF: Crusaders.

My XBOX and I won't be parting ways for a while smile

Long live yEnc!  Seriously, I had no idea uuencoded files have so much wasted overhead.  Between the advent of yEncoded files, par/par2 and the invention of usenet readers like NewsBin.  Zounds, man.  Zounds, I say!  I'm almost glad I didn't have the Internet when I was a kid (and bitter that kids these days do).

And El, that should be a bumper sticker: "Usenet killed my moral compass."  Brilliant!

Usenet is like Ikea of the digital world... you get a truckload of 1's and 0's and just put it together.

I'm still holding out on one.

I'm pretty sure I'll be alright. I have a a giant UPS box coming with the parts required for me to build a fairly awesome new PC, so not having a 360 won't leave me too disappointed.

I think I'm probably going to be alright with waiting on the 360 until I get an HDTV, which might be a long way off yet.

We'll see.
