Ok, right now my Xbox is dead. It gives a dirty disk error. Also my gamecube has fallen victium to small children.

So I could buy a replacement drive for the xbox. While I'm at it, I'm thinking about buying a replacement shell for the Xbox. Clear would be cool.

OR

Get one of the new ps2 redesigns.

not sure what direction to go.

If nothing else, get the drive replaced on your xbox!

Well, unless you wanna go on an RPG binge, then get a PS2 smile

You have a PM Rob.  There are places on the net to find stuff you're looking for and I sent you one in PM.

The big thing about a ps2 isn't RPG but the new GTA which I'm jonesin for. I know it will be available for the pc in a year but I'm not sure I can hold out.

It really depends on the game you want to play.

The Xbox is superior but if you dont like its software...then it doesnt matter.

I say buy the platform that has the game you want to play most, and that sounds like a new PS2.  The new small ones look badass too.

Unless your jonesing for the PS2 exclusives, I'd go with the XBox.  For multi-platform games you can't beat the faster load times, 5.1 sound, better graphics, etc.

Well it looks like instantly Gamecube is out.  I just got an XBox after havign a PS2 and I can't believe I waited so long.  I would say replace the XBox drive, there is nothing that PS2 can really do that XBox can't...

...besides play PS2-exclusive games.  And most PS2-exclusives are of extremely high quality (especially when compared to XBox exclusives... blech).

Like Sports, Racing, multi-platform games, and want to play online?  Go with an XBox.

Like RPGs, Strategy games, unique and bizarre stuff (Katamari Damacy, anyone?), and Sony Exclusives (ie, GTA/Grand Turismo)?  Go with a PS2.

Like purple lunchboxes?  Go with a Gamecube.

EDIT:  Contending with kids for the console?  You might want to get an XBox.  Chances are their tiny hands won't be able to operate the controller anyway...   biggrin

I think you didn't read his post Ebonstone.. He's got an Xbox, he just needs to get it fixed...

Might as well go whole hog Rob and mod that sum-biatch and make it a monster machine.... I'm certain a few folk here can make recommendations of good mods.

Oh and if you're gonna go clear case, get the thicker raised up one and put LEDs in it and make it look like a rice burner or some such thing.. Would be funny to see and would make for a great night light for the kids...

Get a new drive for your Xbox and an adoption agency for the kids.
