Hey guys. I'm thinking about picking up Thief 3 today. My main concern is that it will run ok on my aging system. P4 2.00-XP-512 ram-Ti4200. I really don't mind turning everything down or off, but I am a bit of a stickler when it comes to a nice smooth framerate. What do ya think?

I'd say if you have a fast internet connection you should download the demo.

I would think you'd be ok... it ran "fine" for me on my old P4 2.53 / XP / 512MB / Ti4600 rig.  But then, of course, fine is a very subjective measure.   There is a demo available, if you don't mind downloading ~450MB you could check it out first that way.

I'm working on that now. Does that mean you think it's a little iffy for me perfomance wise??

I played it on an Athlon 1400, 512M, and GeForce 5600 FX. My vid card is a bit better than yours, but otherwise your system should be faster. While it wasn't sily smooth, it was more than acceptable for me. Turning Anti-Aliasing off will help a lot.

At 800x600 with everything turned down/off, it seems to play fine. Next question: How does the full game stack up against the demo?

I can't give you a performace comparison, cause I only played the game itself - not the demo. The demo was released after the game, so I would guess they play pretty similarly.

If you want to know how good the game is, I thought it was great - a flawed masteripece. The missions themselves were great. The city sections were a good idea, but I think they missed the mark in execution. In any event, it was a fitting end to one of the best gaming series, EVER~!
