I was just wondering if any of you own multiple consoles, or even more than one of just one kind of console.
I own: PS2 PS1 Sega Genesis Nintendo Super Nintendo Atari GBA SP
Just one of each.
Do any of you see an advantage of own more than one console of the same brand, say 2 PS2's?

I think that's all of them...

Lol, only at a forum like this could we have a thread like this! Hooked up to play: XBox (2) XBox 360 (1) PS2 (3) Dreamcast (2) Cube (1) N64 (2) NES (2) SNES (1) Charged and playing or ready: Nintendo GBA SP Nintendo DS PSP GameGear I have PS1, PS2, and DC's that I flake around with, repairing, buying, selling, and trading as a hobby, but I don't count those in my collection. And there is most defiinitely, absolutly a reason to have more than one of each... if you have weekends with people over who game, if you want to play upstairs, vs. living room, etc., or if more than one of you in the household want the same unit at the same time as you! I need another 360... but waiting for a price drop - oh, that, and um, some money!

See I'm thinking of getting another PS2, but all my friends have Gamecubes(7), Xbox's(5), or are just PC Gamers(5), and those are my friends that even like to play video games, and I only have about 8 friends that own PS2's. I'm really thinking of getting another PS2, but I'm not sure.

SNES Genesis N64 GB GameCube
I can borrow a GBC, GBA, or DS anytime, and I currently have a PS1 from a friend. Actually, I could probably trade my GC for a PS2 anytime as well, since I have a friend who is likewise a big Metroid/Zelda fan, but probably will not get a GC.

After the Telstar and the Atari 2600, I didn't get into consoles until late 2002. My collection consists of:
Gameboy Advance SP (1) Xbox (1) PSOne + LCD (2; one is a backup unit for the sad day when the other dies) PS2 (1) Dreamcast (2) And my boys have a Nintendo 64 which they rarely play.
And more games than I'll ever have time to play in my lifetime.

Systems I have in my household:
PS1 (2) PS2 N64 Dreamcast (2) Xbox Xbox 360 (2) Super Nintendo Gamecube (2) Sony PSP Nintendo DS (4) Gameboy Advance SP
The four Nintendo DS are my kids and my wife's, but I have access to them, I just don't play them much. When I game on a handheld, it's usually on the PSP.

On a related note, what is the best solution for hooking these up to a TV (or, preferably, a computer monitor!)?
Is there some kind of switchbox?

Is there some kind of switchbox? Here's what I have. You can hook up to 7 systems to it and it also has 4 optical outputs. This is a must have if you are doing HDTV + Surround. http://www.joytech.net/products.php?section=viewprod&productID=79&lang=1&catID=9I got mine at Best Buy for $79.99

Is there some kind of switchbox? Depends on the connector. There are numerous switchboxes. Everything from coax to RCA/S-Video on up to component. Powered will likely be better than passive. Check out Radioshack for the bare minimum or the Pelican System Select Pro for something nice. Probably don't want to get into high-end A/V switches that belong on a huge home entertainment center, but they do exist. Anything in particular you are looking for connector-wise, and how many consoles?

I would be happy with something which would let me not have to keep swapping the connections with my SNES, GC, and PS1 in the back of my old-school RGB Amiga monitor.
But if I could have all that stuff, and likewise be able to display it on a computer monitor, that would rock too. And mad crazy insane bonus props if it can also let me watch cable TV on the monitor.

Are you talking about a 23-pin Amiga RGB monitor? 15-pin VGA? I wouldn't know how to get anything to run on one of those! I thought you just meant a regular TV set. What kind of connectors does your monitor actually have?
I'm beginning to think you are looking for something a little bit less than standard.

I'm beginning to think you are looking for something a little bit less than standard. No, it just uses the three RGB plugs. It's a 1084 monitor, which I guess technically makes it a C64 monitor. I've had the thing for YEARS, obviously. But I was talking about using it on a regular SVGA computer monitor. I am fine playing the occasional console game on it, but since I have a KVM for a second computer, I would like to be able to just have my TV/Console stuff go onto that setup (my new apartment is small, I need to streamline).
