Not that Mercury was a great game, by any means, but it was being bandied about as a possible system seller before release.  I'm suprised you have no recollection of it, is all.

As to this relaunch, is it just the new price, or have they added levels or tweaked gameplay (made the game a little easier, maybe)?

Did they ever come out with the USB tilt sensor they were promising for this game?  That was about the only part of the game that made it sound interesting to me - when it was launched with a standard control scheme, it turned me off enough to never pay attention to it again.

Looks like Gamerankings has it had a 75% ranking.... not bad I guess.

This is Calvin we're talking about - who doesn't technically OWN a handheld.  I could see how ARCHER MACLEAN'S Mercury (dude, that guy has an awesome name) could be passed over if you didn't really own a handheld.

Not sure about the relaunch - all I know is that Mercury 2 was announced recently and it could be just some sort of press release gimmick for new PSP owners who didn't check out the game when they didn't have the console to check it out.

I follow handhelds, but not closely, and honestly I had never heard of it. Plus I like a little levity in my news. I think it makes it more fun to read and spawns the occasional forum post smile

Mercury was a game I was really interested in, but the reports of the difficulty steered me away.

The screenshots for Mercury Meltdown look NOTHING like the original game...very cartoony.
