Yeah, the game popped up on the forums a while back. The announced release date is Feb. 28, I'm excited.
Unfortunately, they dropped a lot of features from the game from when they initially announced it. They actually planned to have multiplayer in the form of tactical battles.

We have a small contingent of gamers here at work that are being cautiously optimistic about this game. We don't really talk about it much for fear of jinxing it... but rest assured we are quite aware of it's impending release, and are all holding our breath that it will flat out rock.

Another game that was flying low below my radar and now it is in full sight. Hopefully this game will deliver.

I believe this is the same game that's called UFO Afterlife. It appears to have already been released in Europe and so far has been reviewed by 4 sites with an average score of 7.7/10. Eurogamer which I've found to be quite credible in the past gave it an 8.

This is different than Afterlife. I'm familiar with that series.

From their Forums, it seems like they are trying to stay reasonably faithful to the original XCOM.
I noticed they don't have randomly generated maps, but they do have over 200 pre-made levels.
Fully destructible environments is a must as well, and they claim they've got this in their game.
120 tech advances? Nice, if they are meaningful.
Some of the screen shots look solid.
Lots of ways they could still go wrong with this one, but I'm keeping my eyes on it.

Looks like they pushed back the release date a couple of months. At least at Amazon.

I've never found Amazon's release dates to be too reliable on anything except books.

Ah well hell. That's a good or bad thing. We wait longer, but they get more time to polish... I'd rather have polish, especially since my wallet is hurting right now.

Oh man, isn't that the same day as Silent Hunter IV? Big purchase month.

I'm confused... how can two games with the same pre-title come out from 2 different companies? They're both based on X-Com right?

They have nothing to do with X-Com. I guess neither company bothered to trademark that name, or are even willing to fight for the name. I think that's because they're both just pretenders to the throne of X-Com, aka UFO: Enemy Unknown.
