If so, which ones did you beat?  Here's the selection:

Metal Gear
Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake
Metal Gear Solid
Metal Gear Solid (Game Boy) aka Metal Gear: Ghost Babel
Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty
Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes (GameCube)
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater
Metal Gear Acid
Metal Gear Acid 2
Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops
Metal Gear Solid Mobile
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
Metal Gear Solid Touch
Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker
Metal Gear Solid: Social Ops

and I'm not sure it's a Metal Gear title per se...but...
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance

(Yea, there has been a few of these...)

I've beaten:
Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake
Metal Gear Solid
Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance

My surprises are:
Metal Gear (nope...I know, right?)
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (never played it)
Metal Gear Acid (own it, never got far)
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (I'm literally at the last boss fight, but can't endure another hour of cutscenes)

I'm a fan of the series, but it's not a game I want to play often.  The shooting mechanics are just clunky IMHO.

Only one I've beaten was Metal Gear Solid.  Tried most of the others, but they never really clicked with me.

Metal Gear (PS) and Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty (Xbox) are the only ones I've beaten. I've tried playing a number, but none could keep my interest long enough for me to get past about the half-way mark. I even bought the Metal Gear HD collection for the 360, but traded it in after a few, frustrating hours of play.

NOPE.  Closest I came was the first one that hit the PS2, but my attention span just hasn't been great for these games.

Actually, now that I think about it...

Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Solid Snake storyline - yes

Nope.  I watched a roommate play a lot of the first Metal Gear Solid and that was enough to convince me that the terrible, ludicrous, over-long story took a higher priority to them than the gameplay, and I have written the series off because of that.  And their continued road down that path, of course.

Metal Gear on NES
MGS1
MGS2
MGS3
MGS4

Got very deep into Metal Gear Acid, but never finished it.

That said, for me the story of MGS is over as of the conclusion of 4. I'm not interested in playing anymore MGS games.

I beat all of the ones prior to MGS.  I just couldn't dig the switch from old school to newer games.

I did also finish the card ones on PSP, those were pretty awesome and I wish we had something like that on PC.

Finished MG on NES and then all of the others except MGS 4 (and the handheld versions).  None of the MGS games at the time of release or on their original console.  Still working through 4.

I'm also an odd duck in that I think MGS 2 is my favorite.

Metal Gear Solid
Metal Gear Solid (Game Boy) aka Metal Gear: Ghost Babel (This game was AWESOME).
Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty
Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes (GameCube)
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots

Working on Peace Walker right now.

Sons of Liberty was great if you examined it as a post-modern work. The way that it subverts narrative tropes, the expectation of the player, the blending of reality and the virtual, that you never really know if what's happening is real by the end of it... fantastic.

I've beaten MGS 1, 2, 3, 4, and Peacewalker...all great games in my opinion, but I will agree that they're not for everyone. The gameplay definitely took a backseat to story early in the series, but it improved considerably from MGS3 onward. I'm also in the group that thinks the story is great despite all the confusing twists and turns. The way they pull everything together across decades and generations is really cool...great series

I don't want any MGS games set AFTER Metal Gear Solid 4,as you said i feel the story is done

but i am still very interested in the inbetween games(upcoming MGSV which is set before Metal Gear Solid 1)

Wasn't that the MGS game that Hideo hated because it wasn't his game or have anything to do with him?

I liked MGS2 but not playing as Snake was a massive kick in the balls, but admittedly i liked the game a lot more after playing MGS4 as the storyline in MGS4 made MGS2 make more sense..oh and the fact that Raiden was a lot cooler in 4,made me like him a little more in 2

I got 4 with the PS3, but not having any skin in the game, didn't even get close to halfway.  I think I'll wait until the Legacy Collection is $20.  I assume I can safely ignore anything else on the timeline?

never played the earlier generation of MG games, so looking for the anthology as a purchase some time down the road.

beat MGS1, MGS2 and MGS4.  Played a bit of MGS3, and Port Ops but never finished them.  I need to go back to those as well eventually and hopefully before 5.
