...why not a Halo RPG?  I really think Halo sales would translate better into an RPG instead of an RTS title. It would be especially cool if they gave it a little Suikoden flair, and you took advantage of some turn-based army battles during the gameplay. If you've read any of the books, Halo does have an expansive backstory.

Personally, I would have really enjoyed seeing Bioware or Obsidian tackle something like this.

Incidentally, how would you handle combat? Real-time first person? Real-time third person? Turn-based? Personally, I would avoid first person to give the title a more pronounced division from regular Halo.

I remember an April Fools article in some magazine that talked about a Bungie game called Forerunner that would have been a more open ended game set in the Halo universe.

Actually, I'd be more interested in such a game rather than the way they currently handled the Halo series.  To me, the original design of Halo on the PC was more like the Forerunner idea.  Preserves a kind of mystery to the ancient beyond measure alien artifacts and such.

The current human/covenant war wasn't as interesting as the prior Forerunner culture and Flood war, along with how the Covenant are connected to the Forerunners.  The Halo triligy didn't cover that enough for me, so if they make such a game, I'd buy it.

I've heard a Halo MMO is being shopped around.  Whether or not that sees the light of day, I'm sure Halo Wars is only the first volley in the flogging of this license.

Yeah, and they still haven't really given any details on what the Halo project is that they're working with Peter Jackson on.

I'd sound a cautionary note that maybe Halo is a great FPS franchise and not a generic brand that should be tacked onto a half dozen games in different genres that water down the source material. You don't want to end up with X-COM: Interceptor and X-COM: Enforcer afterall, or maybe the probably permamently mothballed Starcraft: Ghost.  paranoid

Good one slywink I'm sick of Halo at this point, after the months of hype and advertising, playing only Halo 3 for 3 weeks straight, I'm set on anything from the Halo universe for a few years.
