Half-Life released 15 years ago today.

In other news, Half-Life 3 still hasn't been announced.

I got it on Day One and it was as awesome as the reviews said. Really a landmark in PC Gaming.

In related news, the Black Mesa source team had a huge announcement recently. First, they were allowed by Valve to become a retail product on steam.

Second is that they will still be updating the free mod version.

The real bombshell is that they are working on a new Valve made engine for the retail version, but that they can't really talk about that as part of their contract. But I think we know by know it's the new source engine meant for HL3.

either one of two things will happen, I think.  either Black Mesa Source v3 will come out before HL3, which would result in legions of fans bludgeoning themselves in front of Valve's office, or it will end up in a development cycle of hell ala DNF as it constantly tries to keep up with new versions of Source, only to go back to the drawing board once the new version hits.

Good on 'em for getting semi-official support from Valve.  I'll buy the retail version just to throw them some bucks for a job well done, but honestly, the current free version is excellent as-is.

Half-Life 3 is never going to happen now. Valve is a hardware company and digital storefront. I do not believe that they'll put what resources they currently have into developing a game title. I bet that Half-Life 3 will not be announced this year.

Whoever is closest to picking the Half-Life 3 announcement date wins one steam game, from me, to you. ($60.00 limit)

No ties are allowed.

I predict: Never gonna happen

My guess is that the commercial version of Black Mesa is being developed to coincide with the release of HL3, likely to be released in 2015 and be included with the game.

Half-Life. I bought it with my Heat.net points, and loved every minute of every playthrough - enough of them that I've lost count.

Two months prior to the release of the first official Steam-box.

That would be cool. Jotting this down.
