I'm surprised...I expected slightly higher especially compared to some of the recent console titles that have come out and their scores.

I will judge for myself when I play it starting tomorrow, but the gamespot review has some disappointing points I don't like at all:
AI is lacking, story isn't very good, the game is easy, and the length is only 15-20 hours long.
Shocking! Yet, gamespot did give it the same score as FarCry. FarCry is my favorite FPS, so I have some hope for HL2.

Gamespy's the only review that matters to me, though I have a feeling they'll be giving it the ambiguous five-stars.
Honestly, I'm more excited about Bloodlines than Half-Life 2.

I'm hoping that those 'disappointing' aspects like story and AI are disappointing in comparison with the best imagined theoretical wonderful versions, and not in comparison to, say, Far Cry. As a college student myself, I'm all for grading it on the curve instead.

Honestly, I'm more excited about Bloodlines than Half-Life 2. Ditto. Bloodlines will be a day one buy. Granted, I'm sure I'll get HL2, but I'm just not feeling the vibes for a pure shooter right now.

Story and AI are disappointing?!?!?!
oh crap. Maybe the Pc Gamer review was a little over the top and this game really isn't the second coming after all... :?

Story and AI are disappointing?!?!?! that's according to Gamespot...read the IGN review and you get a totally different opinion. yet another example of how you reviews should always be taken with a grain of salt...

Their half-life review also says that the story sucked. And it did. The atmosphere, presentation and pacing were great.

What I really want to know is how will the performance be on my PC.
I hope HL2 captures the beauty, freedom, and intensity of FarCry. IMO, FarCry is the FPS game to compare to.

I'm disappointed Ocampo said the game wasn't groundbreaking. Of course, after he gave Dominions 2 a 6.2 I really don't trust his reviews.

Their half-life review also says that the story sucked. And it did. The atmosphere, presentation and pacing were great. The story was great (for a fps of course) prior to the alien levels which were annoying as hell.

I'm just waiting for the call. It's a shame bloodlines doesn't have multiplayer though...Vampire: Masquerade - Redemption (yes I mangled the name) had a great multiplayer mode only hampered by its complexity. Heck..I believe there still is a mod community for it today

AI is lacking, story isn't very good, the game is easy, and the length is only 15-20 hours long The AI for your team mates sometimes will block you in corridors (fixable) but in gunfights they perform splendid. The enemy AI is VERY good. The story leaves you hanging (just liek HALO 2 did and I loved the story so I disagree with the reviewer) and that is to be expected since Gabe said that there will be a Half-Life 3. The game is easy? Relative and depends on difficulty setting. 15-20 hours long? That is a long time for a FPS. The original Half-Life i beat in less time. Halo 2 I beat in half the time. I love the experience and the game. 15-20 hours IS a long time for the genre. I knew the story would end leaving you wanting more. That is the point and I like it because I know that a sequel is coming to complete the franchise at some point.

Bloodlines ships tomorrow, but I doubt too many will see it in stores until Wednesday. Gamestop claims it shipped today... Pre-Release ETA: 11/15/04 If not, well then maybe I will swing on over to Best Buy and see if they have it out early as well...

I feel bad for you folks looking forward to Bloodlines... I haven't heard one good word about it.
FYI - It's doing so 'well' Troika is about 2 steps away from closing their doors.

I feel bad for you folks looking forward to Bloodlines... I haven't heard one good word about it. I've heard plenty of good words about it. Knightshade Dragon's words for starters. Besides, you didn't like Halo 2, which I love, so I kinda hafta take your thoughts with a grain of salt. And how can you make a judgement about how well it's doing, when it hasn't even been released yet?

FYI - It's doing so 'well' Troika is about 2 steps away from closing their doors. A few points: 1.) I haven't heard one bad word about it. Unless you've only asked your bowels for its thoughts on Vampire, I find your first point hard to believe. 2.) The game's not even been released yet. It can't do "well," sarcastically or not, until it can be purchased. With three* posts and utterly baseless claims, it's hard to resist stamping TROLL on your forehead. *Oh, pardon me, four posts. You're 33% more qualified than I thought you were. Unfortunately this still leaves your credibility at 0.

There are impressions from the warez version of Bloodlines on the gamefaqs board, and some other places.
My EB said they ought to have Bloodlines tomorrow.

Gamespy's the only review that matters to me, though I have a feeling they'll be giving it the ambiguous five-stars. Just curious, but why do you regard GSpy's review's so highly? They're typically short and usually lack depth. I much prefer something like AVault's typical review. Back to HL2, Bill loves it; says the story is fantastic.
