announcement is running late-  they had all the video on blu ray and Gabe Newell mistook them for really flat, shiny donuts.

Go to the official one.

I ended up watching the one I linked to since the official one kept on buffering.  it's probably just a card announcement anyways.

So I had a dream last night that at E3, Valve announced that HL3 was available to play. A big suprise announcement that shocked every body since I'm sure everyone thought it would just be an announcement that it was in development.

Part of me thinks that would happen, but the other part thinks that couldn't because of the retail aspect. What I don't understand is that why should Valve/Steam care if the retail store gets the game... Unfair advantage? You don't see games/apps from apple or android being sold at stores, other than their online component. Why does Valve and others have to make their games readily available. Especially when their games are steam games. I know it would give people better accessibility to their product, but I can guarantee that most people would download it if it was available only on Steam. In fact some games you do, even though you bought the physical copy.

Anyways, that was my dream, my other dream that my parents bought a house 2 doors down

Well, you know, consoles.  That's kind of a big market too.

... and this wouldn't work for digital distribution why?

They could have it release online and have it in stores for 2 weeks from now. Plus, they could go all "online only". Tongue

I think its better for them to be ready to announce something - we KNOW it's in the works - so them confirming it is the same as confirming that water is wet.

Something like Team Fortress 2, which I knew* was being worked on back in 2003, would be news since it most people believed it would never see the light of day.

* I stayed in a hotel with one of the Valve artists (she was really cute too!) for E3 back then - I met her on the last day though, which is tragic - she would have been fun to hang out with. biggrin

Naw, but it was on the cusp of the end of the Worst-Mistake-Of-My-Life™ - it made me appreciate that there was far better out there. Smart, cute, funny, and a VG girl. What wasn't to love about that?
