Those were very well fought matches. The video will show how you almost perfected me one round. Won't have the video up for near a week though since my computer has no SD card reader I have to wait until I'm back home. You can blame all the people from the boards that played Blanka against me when I requested it since I knew that was my weak point.

Swept both times! Woo hoo! I've been too busy to really put any practice time in, so that's pretty much what I expected. Sorry I didn't put up much of a fight, the PC has been dominating my gaming time as of late.

I'm curious what the folks here think about possibly ending the tourney after round 5 instead of going through with the single elim finals. This week's round 5 is going to give us a clear undefeated winner of the Swiss, and I'll be using the 'quality of prior matchups' type method to determine the standings for the rest of the players.
Seems like tournament fatigue hit some players earlier than I expected, so ending at round 5 will give a clean end to the tournament without the single elim finals potentially drawing things out with slow matches.
Then again, everyone was great about doing their round 4 matches on-time with just one left to go (thanks all!), so maybe we'd be able to blow through the single elim pretty quickly.
Thoughts?

Think that question is probably best left to the single elimination qualifiers rather than the whole bunch.

True, but at this point 17 of the 23 contestants have the potential to be in the top 8 depending on how round 5 goes, if my quick try at the math is correct.

Now you realize I'll have to do the opposite just to spite you, right? I guess I might as well just keep to the original plan at this point. Round 5 pairings will be ready shortly.

pingwrx (Ryu) > Ralph-Wiggum (Blanka) pingwrx (Ryu) > Ralph-Wiggum (E. Honda)
pingwrx
The Ryu/Blanka matches were pretty close (he won 3 to 1 but most of the matches were tight), but I made a mistake moving to E. Honda. pingwrx has a good Ryu; he can get off the dragon punch at any time and nailed me with an ultimate right after being knocked down.

wonderpug vs. 1Dgaf I have to say that was easily one of most intense matches I've ever played in this game. The two of us had sparred in the past and I think our skill levels are pretty even, and then with this match I think we were both A) playing more seriously, and B) trying not to let our nerves get the better of us. It's amazing how much a video game can get your heart pumping. I'll again avoid spoiling the ending since this one's such a nailbiter: wonderpug vs 1Dgaf Match 1wonderpug vs 1Dgaf Match 2wonderpug vs 1Dgaf Match 3Great, great game, 1D.

Apologies for not yet getting to all the reported results from round 5. Things are getting busy on the "with Jobs" side of things I haven't had the lunch break time I normally use to update things. Stay tuned.

When do we find out who's in the finals? We keep having people drop out without giving any kind of communication. Instead of continuing the uphill battle I'm going to do a round of signups for a single elim tournament (seeded by ranking in this tournament) so that we can whittle the player list down to people who're planning to show up for games. I'm also curious to see if tomorrow's patch adds any features that we could take advantage of. So for your anticlimactic declaration of the winner of the Swiss Tournament... Harkonis wins! I'll be posting a full ranking hierarchy for all the participants in a few days after I get a little time to work out the rankings within each point group.

the new patch brings nothing that we can use for anything. Championship mode is pretty cool though, and the replay feature is kinda neat. uploaded my first so pug can see firsthand that I mash just as many buttons, I just know how to do it quietly.

Does the replay feature work well enough that the tournament group would be able to share all their matches?

you only can record replays if it's a tourney match in the new mode, and only if you are in the top 5k of the leaderboard. even then each person only gets one replay on the board at a time. you can save those replays to your hd all you want though, but no way to share them other than recording and youtubing that I've seen. Like I said, the new patch brings nothing we can use for our tourney or did I forget to mention that. (insert pug tease here).

though 1. (used in introducing a subordinate clause, which is often marked by ellipsis) notwithstanding that; in spite of the fact that; although: Though he tried very hard, he failed the course. 2. even if; granting that (often prec. by even).
