I've been interested in trying to record some of these matches so last night I bit the bullet and tested it out real quick with AMN.  It was far, far easier than I expected to get it up on youtube.

And thus I bring you the inaugural GT vs. GWJ video...

I need to figure out how to overlay Benny Hill music for some of the embarrassing moments of the match, but as far as the video goes I'm pretty happy with the quality.

I'll definitely be recording all the rest of my own tournament matches to share, and it would be awesome if we could get even more contestants to do the same.

I used the video feature on my photo camera, a Nikon D90.  Put the camera on a tripod, set the focus and framing using the game menu as a test screen, and then just hit the record button at the character select screen when we were about to start.  If I did it again I'd see if there's a way to set the camera to locks its exposure setting so it's not constantly trying to adjust the brightness as the scene gets brighter or darker.

The camera's video file format is compatible with youtube, so from there it was just a matter of putting the file on my computer and uploading it.  Didn't realize how straightforward the youtube uploading interface was but I guess it figures it'd be really easy to use.  Once you have the youtube link you can add "&fmt=18" to the url to have it link directly to the high quality version, or "&fmt=22" to link to the 720p version (depending on the quality of the recorded file.)

My camera can only record 5 minutes at a time so I'm a little worried the end might get chopped off if my match runs through to the 5th match in a long best of 5, but what can you do.

Ha.  I was expecting to be mocked for that sooner.

Some of it was me failing at demonstrating my TK Cannon Strikes for Ahrezmendi, some of it was genuine button mashing I admit I do often do intentionally when I want to make sure I get the timing right for a reversal or those followup Cannon Spikes you like to get hit by, but yeah, a lot of just plain old sloppy playing there.

It's also a little creepy hearing only one half of the voice chat conversation.

If you haven't resolved your round 1 matchup yet please try your best to do so by the end of Sunday.  Monday morning I'll post the next round of pairings.

Also, we have one person, Ralph-Wiggum, who asked to be in the tournament after we got things going.  He's going to get a bye for round 1, and from there on out there will be a 0 point "Bye" entrant to be assigned to a randomly selected lowest rated player each round.  No one will get more than one bye round.

you obviously didn't check mine before you posted either since I'm firmly in the 2000's and have been for days since I don't really play much ranked.  Of course we could also look at the fact that you've had to win almost 200 matches to achieve the rank I have with under 80
