Creating this thread as requested.

These are what I have, and they work great.

I've been kicking around the idea of getting some of these for a couple of years now, but have never pulled the trigger since they're pricey. Last time I went to the eye doc he said I really needed something since I'm staring at screens all day. He suggested low power reading glasses, but all the ones I tried were horrible because I have great vision and even a slight magnification gave me a headache. A co-worker of mine swears by them.

I guess I am lucky wearing prescription glasses. I don't need to buy something to cut glare from bright, shiny TVs.

So please explain, what do they do for you? I read the description, have gamed for years, and I can't fathom the point of these.

These are sold in a cheap electronics store nearby, and I always feel almost insulted reading the box. They make a series of claims, but don't make a single attempt to back them up. With modern screens, you don't need glasses to reduce glare. If glare is a problem, turn down the brightness/contrast. If you need glasses, these things won't do shit. If you find yourself getting eye strain but your vision is perfect (which it most likely isn't. Take that from someone who started wearing glasses this year and had no idea how poor his vision was), you might have some other eye condition that can still be corrected with glasses.

These yellow-tinted things though? A total waste of money, in my opinion.

Not sure why you went full on condescending in a rapid 3 post spurt but whatever.  Read up on them and you'll see they do stuff they don't even really claim to do.

http://betanews.com/2011/02/20/the-hype-vs-the-science-of-digital-eyewear/ is one of many third party reviews.  My gf's health care also covers them.

talk to an eye doctor, just don't be as much of a dick to him.

My eye doctor told me for years that my vision is near perfect, but the reason I have trouble focusing is because of eye strain and my eyes are used to focusing on a set distance that not good for them.  These help both of those issues, and do other things as well.

The only claim I've seen regarding gaming glasses that is flat out bullshit is the claims about moisture retention or similar.  No way they can do that imo.

The glasses took a couple days to adjust to, but it's been more than worth it.  Keep in mind how many hours I play/work on computers.

Silly closed minded people, next thing you know you'll be telling me the XB1 will suck.

One of the big issues as my optometrist pointed this out to me, is that the effect of staring at a fixed distance object isn't within our eyes nature, nor is it to have that changing and there has not been any significant research on the effects of the different technologies. He doesn't sell them himself, mind you, so I'm less likely to buy into the "he's trying to scam me" argument.

As for this thread, *I* was the one who requested he post about it so I can view it later ... we were on a CoD:G match yesterday ... gasp, I know, right? Purge actually playing COD online?

Also, I have a TERRIFIC DKR. It's just my KDR that sucks.

I've been looking at Gunnar for a long while, as I fight with eye strain quite a bit.  Unfortunately, they refuse to make clip-ons, which means they're only useful for people who either don't wear prescription glasses, or can afford to have Gunnar make them a custom prescription set.
